Overview of functions and their benefitsCorridorCorridorInteraction betweenluminairesSensaLink allows sensorsto be linked. In this way, sensors “listen” to eachother and share informationabout presence/absencewithin their detection zones. This feature is useful forexample in office applications;notional corridors, staircases, and lobbies can be set toremain lit as long as one ofthe sensors is detecting apresence, providing enoughlight in the surrounding areasand giving a feeling of safety(also known as ‘corridor hold’function).Interaction with room partitionsSome applications require larger rooms to be divided into smallerseparate rooms, depending on the activities. SensaLink detects if therooms are separated or linked, and reacts accordingly: If the partitionis closed, SensaLink provides individual control within each room. Ifthe partition is opened, the combined rooms offer joined control.CorridorReliability withdecentralised functionsSensaLink keeps local functionslocal. All parameters andsettings for a specific sensorhead are stored within the unit, therefore it will continue tofunction even if the Bus systemit is connected to fails or isinterrupted. The benefit is thatpresence and daylight-link, andlocal override functions arecontinuously provided, withoutthe room user realising the lossof the Bus system.Upgrade abilityAs the SensaLink sensor headsare able to work “stand-alone”when they are not connected toa central Bus system (see also‘Reliability with decentralisedfunctions’), the possibility arisesto install them first, and tolink them, via the SensaLinkBus, in a second phase. Bydoing this, the functionality ofthe installation would initiallybe similar to several ThornSensaDigital installations, working independently fromone another, and then in thesecond stage provide all theadditional SensaLink functions. In existing SensaLinkinstallations the Bus system alsoallows you to add additionaldevices and to extend thesystem at anytime. Thisprovides you with the flexibilitythat you would expect from acontrol system, adapting to thecontinuously changing needs, uses and room layouts within abuilding.6
