SOLTEQ ® Equipment for Engineering Education & ResearchMODEL: BP 16VAPOUR LIQUID EQUILIBRIUMUNITThis Vapor-Liquid Equilibrium Unit (Model: BP 16) is a bench top unit designed for students to investigatethe relationship between vapor and liquid at equilibrium for any binary system as well as for multicomponentsystem. Students may run the unit at atmospheric pressure (i.e. 0 bar (g)) or at an elevatedpressure.The unit consists of mainly a stainless steel evaporatorfitted with electrical heater and electronic sensors forthe measurement of pressure and temperatures of liquidand vapour. A stainless steel coil type heat exchangeris attached at the top of the evaporator. Digital displaysare provided for students to monitor the temperatureand pressure of the vapour in the vessel. A temperaturecontroller is also provided for the purpose of setting andadjusting the equilibrium temperature. The unit comeswith a pressure relief valve for safety purposes. Theunit is also well insulated in order to minimize heatlosses. Feed port and sampling ports for both liquid andvapour are also provided.EXPERIMENTAL CAPABILITIES♦ The vapor-liquid relationship at equilibrium for binarysystem and multi-component system atatmospheric pressure as well as at an elevatedpressure.♦ The effect of initial mixture composition upon theboiling temperature and vapour liquid phasecompositions.♦ Determination of minimum boiling point of a binarymixture.♦ The effect of adding non-volatile salt on the phasecompositions.♦ Vapor pressure curve at high pressure.
