143] The rest <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> verse reads: “So that you may be held witness overpeople and <strong>the</strong> Prophet be witness over you.”Thus, a logical interpretation would be:i. God guides whom He will to <strong>the</strong> right path.ii. God has determined that <strong>the</strong> right path is onewhich is moderate and centrist.iii. God will hold <strong>the</strong> faithful and <strong>the</strong> Prophet to bewitnesses that <strong>the</strong> Muslim community ismoderate and centrist.Ano<strong>the</strong>r example is <strong>the</strong> interpretation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> last verses <strong>of</strong> al-Fatihah surah: {(5) The path <strong>of</strong> those whom Thou hast blessed; (6) Not<strong>of</strong> those who incurred wrath, nor <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> astray (7).One interpretation <strong>of</strong> those last verses is: {(5) The path <strong>of</strong> thosewhom Thou hast blessed (Muslims); (6) Not <strong>of</strong> those who incurredwrath (Jews), nor <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> astray (Christians) (7).Ano<strong>the</strong>r interpretation for those same last verses <strong>of</strong> al-Fatihahsurah is: {(5) The path <strong>of</strong> those whom Thou hast blessed (Any humanbeing who submitted oneself to God and followed God’s instructions);(6) Not <strong>of</strong> those who incurred wrath (Any human being who defiedGod), nor <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> astray (Any human being who did not follow God’sinstructions).
