Sektör olarakAB’ye hazırız ve kendimizi sürekligeliştiriyoruz.” dedi.Müzekart başarısıKültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı’nabağlı 48 müze ve örenyerinin gişeişletmelerini TÜRSAB’ın almasınınardından buradan elde edilengelirin 28 milyon TL’den 260milyon TL’ye çıktığını dile getirenUlusoy, “ Kültür ve Turizm BakanıErtuğrul Günay büyük bir cesaretgöstermiştir. Hakkımız olan ihaleyialdık, müze gişelerinde 7 milyon800 bin kaçak girişi önledik. Devletbu müzelerden 153 milyon TL gelirelde ediyor, bunun 125 milyonunuharcıyordu. Yıllık gelir şu anda 300milyon TL, gider ise 40 milyonTL. İnsanlar ceplerine koyduklarıbir kartla 305 müzeyi ziyaretedebiliyor.” diye konuştu.Hükümetten ulaşım ücretlerindenKDV’nin kaldırılmasını rica ettiklerinive bu ricanın kabul edildiğimüjdesini veren Başaran Ulusoy,tüm müze ve ören yerlerinin deKültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı’nabağlanması gerektiğini dile getirdi.EU Minister Egemen Bağış met therepresentatives of the tourism sectorat a meeting organised by TÜRSAB atKandilli Adile Sultan Palace. Statingthe great contribution of tourismprofessionals to the promotion of thecountry at the 1 st June meeting, Bağışgave the message of “The positiveimage tourism professionals createdwill take us to the EU”. Speaking ofthe fact that TÜRSAB had become aworld brand in the 39 year periodsince it was founded, Bağış said“employees who work in tourismsector don’t just bring tourists into thecountry but they take on an importanttask in terms of Turkey’s image.Overseas visitors arriving in Turkeylook more warmly to our membershipof the EU. If you had not projected aright image of Turkey we would not beable to obtain a negotiation date withthe EU. Your share in this success isgreat.”Reaching targets is possiblePointing out that taboos in the area oftourism have been overcome, Bağışsaid “We witnessed that with correctknowledge even the circles who wereexpected to give speeches of ‘thecountry is being lost’ or ‘our religionwill be interfered with’ in religiousceremonies in Sümela, Akdamarhad welcomed visitors arrivingfrom overseas as guests. It is nowsuggested that Turkey would be one of5 countries to attract the most numberof tourists in the world market in2023. We are talking about a tourismincome of 50 billion dollars. We caneasily reach this target if we improveourselves in areas of health tourism,culture tourism and faith tourism”.We want peace not fightTÜRSAB Chairman Başaran Ulusoywho spoke at the meeting sent amessage to EU countries demandingvisas from Turkey. Chairman Ulusoysaid that “We very much need theimplementation of European Unionrules from the point of view of humanrights and democracy. But, as thetourism sector, we wish to be caressedrather than scratched by the EU. Wewant peace, not conflict. I appeal tothe EU from here. If they continue toinsist on visa regulations we may haveto introduce visa for them one day”.Our sector is ready for EUTouching on the unifying role oftourism on his speech, ChairmanUlusoy said “This country is anembracing country, full of love.This sector is a sector that takessomeone in Van to Trabzon, someonein Trabzon to Antalya in the sameplane, in the same coach, connectingpeople. We are ready for the EU as thesector and we continuously improveourselves”.Museumcard successIndicating that the income frommuseums operated by the Ministry ofCulture and Tourism had increasedto 260 million TL from 28 million TLafter TÜRSAB took over the ticketoffice operation of 48 museums andruins, Ulusoy said that “Culture andTourism Minister Ertuğrul Günayhad shown great bravery. We wonthe bid that was ours by right andwe prevented 7 million 800 thousandillegal entrances at museums. Thestate was receiving an income of 153million from these museums whilespending 125 million of that. Theannual income at the moment is 300million TL while the cost is 40 millionTL. With a single card in their pockets,people can visit 305 museums”.Giving the good news that thegovernment had agreed to abolish VATfrom ticket prices after having pleadedwith them, Başaran Ulusoy stated theneed that all museums and historicalruins should be managed by Ministryof Culture and Tourism.TÜRSAB DERGİ | TEMMUZ 2011 41
