Page 14—<strong>Harby</strong> <strong>Newsletter</strong>, June 2013GREETINGS FROM YOUR NEW RECTORI became Rector of the East Trent Group of Churches, which includes <strong>Harby</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Wigsley</strong>, on 20 th April, <strong>and</strong> I’m verymuch enjoying the privilege of serving such a variety of communities. There needs to be a long time of discovery forme as I learn the needs of each <strong>and</strong> how to be the Parish Priest for each. And it is fun! In all the communities I servethere is an active parish church seeking to offer worship <strong>and</strong> to be present in the community for all to use. If you’dlike to see me please don’t hesitate to be in touch <strong>and</strong> I’ll be happy to arrange a time. Folk like me are used whenpeople want to share something with someone who is quite independent <strong>and</strong> yet who has an investment in theircommunity. Often they’re troubled with major things like illness or bereavement, or maybe they just want to sharesome happy news. I may have my house in Collingham but I’m still the parish priest for all the communities in theGroup, <strong>and</strong> that’s part of the learning I need to do.I’ve just come back from celebrating at Baptism in All Saints, <strong>Harby</strong>, <strong>and</strong> a very happy occasion it was, too. And verysoon I’ll be officiating there at a wedding for one of the teachers in the village school. How exciting.
