Employment Ready Exams: Post <strong>Secon</strong>dary Assessments<br />
Employment Ready Certifications<br />
These examinations provide third party end of course<br />
assessment/certifications to post-secondary students and<br />
new technicians. The certifications provide tangible<br />
evidence of accomplishment and instructors with<br />
assessment tools to improve learning.<br />
HVAC Excellence Employment Ready Certification<br />
identifies individuals who have successfully attained the<br />
knowledge necessary to enter the HVACR workforce.<br />
Students may take any of several 100 question exams in<br />
the various disciplines available (available in paper or<br />
online) .<br />
Employment Ready Exam Pricing:<br />
Retail: $85.00 per exam<br />
Proctor: $20.00 paper / $15.00 online per exam<br />
HVACR Educational programs may qualify for free<br />
student assessments when using ESCO online for <strong>EPA</strong><br />
<strong>608</strong> testing.<br />
Electrical- Item # EREL*<br />
The electrical exam is recommended as a prerequisite for<br />
all other certifications in the HVAC Excellence program<br />
as a strong understanding of electrical fundamentals is<br />
crucial for a successful technician. This examination<br />
challenges students in the following areas of electrical<br />
knowledge: theory, safety, troubleshooting, motors, using<br />
meters and interpreting pictorial and schematic wiring<br />
diagrams.<br />
Light Commercial Air Conditioning<br />
Item# ERCAC<br />
Commercial buildings may experience high occupancy<br />
leading to indoor air quality (IAQ) concerns, and contain<br />
a variety of equipment and controls unique to<br />
commercial applications. This certification addresses the<br />
unique issues involved in the service and maintenance of<br />
light commercial air conditioning systems up to 25 tons.<br />

Air Conditioning– Item# ERAC*<br />
Air conditioning certification establishes a basis for all<br />
other residential certifications involving the vapor<br />
compression refrigeration system. A properly<br />
maintained system by a qualified technician should<br />
deliver years of trouble free operation.<br />
Basic Refrigeration and Charging Procedures Item #<br />
ERRCP<br />
This fifty-question examination addresses the<br />
fundamentals of air conditioning and refrigeration<br />
systems, the refrigeration cycle, system charging and<br />
evacuation as well as troubleshooting.<br />
Electric Heat- Item #EREH<br />
Electric Heat Certification includes the servicing and<br />
troubleshooting of electric heat systems. Electric heat is<br />
commonly used as a supplemental heat supply for heat<br />
pump systems.<br />
Gas Heat Certification- Item #ERGH<br />
Gas heat systems have changed dramatically in the past<br />
few years. Many new high efficiency gas heating units<br />
employ electronic ignitions systems, variable speed<br />
motors, and a myriad of electrical controls. In addition<br />
to a solid foundation in the theory and operation of<br />
older existing systems, today's technician must possess<br />
the skills to service newer systems to ensure safe, trouble<br />
free and efficient operation.<br />
Oil Heat- Item #EROH<br />
Oil heat requires more consistent service than any other<br />
heating system. Preventative maintenance procedures,<br />
from the oil tank to the flue must be preformed.<br />
Technicians servicing and troubleshooting oil heating<br />
systems require extensive knowledge to properly install,<br />
service and safely maintain these systems.
