Employment Ready Exams: Post Secondary Assessments
Employment Ready Certifications
These examinations provide third party end of course
assessment/certifications to post-secondary students and
new technicians. The certifications provide tangible
evidence of accomplishment and instructors with
assessment tools to improve learning.
HVAC Excellence Employment Ready Certification
identifies individuals who have successfully attained the
knowledge necessary to enter the HVACR workforce.
Students may take any of several 100 question exams in
the various disciplines available (available in paper or
online) .
Employment Ready Exam Pricing:
Retail: $85.00 per exam
Proctor: $20.00 paper / $15.00 online per exam
HVACR Educational programs may qualify for free
student assessments when using ESCO online for EPA
608 testing.
Electrical- Item # EREL*
The electrical exam is recommended as a prerequisite for
all other certifications in the HVAC Excellence program
as a strong understanding of electrical fundamentals is
crucial for a successful technician. This examination
challenges students in the following areas of electrical
knowledge: theory, safety, troubleshooting, motors, using
meters and interpreting pictorial and schematic wiring
diagrams.
Light Commercial Air Conditioning
Item# ERCAC
Commercial buildings may experience high occupancy
leading to indoor air quality (IAQ) concerns, and contain
a variety of equipment and controls unique to
commercial applications. This certification addresses the
unique issues involved in the service and maintenance of
light commercial air conditioning systems up to 25 tons.

Air Conditioning– Item# ERAC*
Air conditioning certification establishes a basis for all
other residential certifications involving the vapor
compression refrigeration system. A properly
maintained system by a qualified technician should
deliver years of trouble free operation.
Basic Refrigeration and Charging Procedures Item #
ERRCP
This fifty-question examination addresses the
fundamentals of air conditioning and refrigeration
systems, the refrigeration cycle, system charging and
evacuation as well as troubleshooting.
Electric Heat- Item #EREH
Electric Heat Certification includes the servicing and
troubleshooting of electric heat systems. Electric heat is
commonly used as a supplemental heat supply for heat
pump systems.
Gas Heat Certification- Item #ERGH
Gas heat systems have changed dramatically in the past
few years. Many new high efficiency gas heating units
employ electronic ignitions systems, variable speed
motors, and a myriad of electrical controls. In addition
to a solid foundation in the theory and operation of
older existing systems, today's technician must possess
the skills to service newer systems to ensure safe, trouble
free and efficient operation.
Oil Heat- Item #EROH
Oil heat requires more consistent service than any other
heating system. Preventative maintenance procedures,
from the oil tank to the flue must be preformed.
Technicians servicing and troubleshooting oil heating
systems require extensive knowledge to properly install,
service and safely maintain these systems.
