techniques for business-oriented websites. Prerequisite: None<br />
HTML and CSS<br />

This class introduces you to the syntax and explores techniques using<br />
both languages to create and format headings, body text, hyperlinks,<br />
images, tables, and more. You’ll learn to use tags using the newest<br />
version of HTML, called XHTML, to build pages. You’ll also learn<br />
to control the format and layout of items on web pages using inline,<br />
embedded, and linked CSS stylesheets.<br />
NEW HTML5<br />

HTML5 allows web designers the ability to create richer, more<br />
meaningful web pages with structural tags and descriptive attributes.<br />
Although it is still officially under development, HTML5 is<br />
being used today to develop web pages. At its core, HTML5 aims<br />
to improve the markup language with support for the latest multimedia<br />
(free of need for proprietary plugins and APIs) while keeping<br />
it easily readable by end users and browsers. HTML5 is intended<br />
to absorb HTML4, XHTML1, DOM2HTML and JavaScript, so<br />
what you need to learn, and how browsers handle HTML5, develops<br />
from rather than replaces previous technology. This class presents an<br />
overview of HTML5 and its development, including new syntactical<br />
features such as the video, audio, header, and canvas elements,<br />
as well as how browsers parse and display HTML5 content. You’ll<br />
also learn about the HTML5 outline algorithm and how it can help<br />
you define and structure your site content and construct an HTML5<br />
