The COLASelf-Assessment and COLA Criteria for Quality LaboratoryPerformance are the foundation educational tools for this process.COLA LabUniversity® courses supplement learning.The COLA Criteria for Quality Laboratory Performance arethe guiding principles for achieving a quality-conscious laboratorywhich takes appropriate action to ensure accurate results for alltests performed in the laboratory. Study of these criteria can be usedto improve the operation of any laboratory.Performing the Self-Assessment helps you identify areas ofnoncompliance and improve your laboratory system as you preparefor the on-site survey. Improvements you make will increase thelevel of satisfaction of your patients and laboratory staff.To complement these educational tools, the COLA On-site Surveyis also designed to be educational rather than punitive.
