<strong>Borough</strong> ServicesMaison <strong>de</strong>s jeunes Azimut Nord to relocate<strong>Borough</strong> ServicesThe <strong>Borough</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jacques</strong>-<strong>Cartier</strong> community is working togetherto fund a move for the Maison <strong>de</strong>s jeunes Azimut Nord. For thepast 18 years, the youth centre has been working with <strong>Borough</strong>youth between the ages <strong>of</strong> 12 and 17. “Our young people areassets – we must work with them to improve their quality <strong>of</strong>life. We must give them the room they <strong>de</strong>serve to expressthemselves and flourish. Committee members have already held a fewmeetings and its current mandate is to enhance and increaseactivities at the Centre communautaire et culturel throughvisual art exhibitions.As part <strong>of</strong> its recent opening, the Centre communautaire etculturel <strong>de</strong> l’Arrondissement <strong>de</strong> <strong>Jacques</strong>-<strong>Cartier</strong> is seekingvisual arts projects to brighten up the facilities and create itsfirst programming. With a mission to increase cultural activitiesin the <strong>Borough</strong>, the committee invites artists, groups, schoolsand presenters to submit their projects.Acting in sync with what is currently available, the centreis open to different approaches, highlighting its policy thatfocuses on freedom, accessibility, and the heterogeneousand multidisciplinary character <strong>of</strong> its exhibitions to createa dynamic environment where proximity and experienceunite artists and the community.For more <strong>de</strong>tails, consult the complete call for projects onthe city Web site, in the <strong>Borough</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jacques</strong>-<strong>Cartier</strong> section.Comité Vie<strong>de</strong> quartierNord (CVQN)The CVQN is ma<strong>de</strong> up <strong>of</strong> resi<strong>de</strong>nts, community organizations,and institutions in the <strong>Borough</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jacques</strong>-<strong>Cartier</strong> that wishto contribute to improving the quality life <strong>of</strong> resi<strong>de</strong>nts onvarious levels: personal, family, social, cultural, economicand environmental.The CVQN is also responsible for supporting and organizingactivities in disadvantaged neighbourhoods <strong>of</strong> our community.Citizen involvement is at the heart <strong>of</strong> this approach. Thecommittee alo pursues actions associated with social an<strong>de</strong>conomic integration <strong>of</strong> immigrants living in the <strong>Borough</strong>.With this in mind, a welcome and integration party will beorganized in late April for new arrivals to the <strong>Borough</strong>.Don’t miss the next issue <strong>of</strong> the La Voix du Nord newspapercoming out this summer. This community newspaper isdistributed to about 18 000 homes and families in the<strong>Borough</strong> through the Publi-sac.
