News from the CHAPLAINThank you to every one that supportedour last free dress day. We raised over$300 to buy sporting equipment to taketo Fiji. Our next Free Dress day will be on 23rdof July, coinciding with our FIJI day. Thistime instead of donating a gold coin, weare asking students to dona te an itemthat we can take over. The Fijian peoplewe are visiting on the island of Ovalu livein one of four isolated villages. One of these villages hasonly had power for less than two years and the closest shopis an hour’s drive away.MissionsPractically ‐ due to weight limits ‐ we can’t take la rge, heavyitems, but it would be good to have a range of small toys andusable items that these children / students go without. Theschool we are visiting has students from Grade 1 – 9, sothink about something that is suitable for a child your age. Some ideas include:Handball/tennis ball; Lead/Coloured pencilsChalk for the blackboard (coloured chalk is highly valued) ;Skipping rope ; Hair ties or headband(s)A new or second hand book or item of clothing – make surethey are in good condition and not marked or falling apart.Writing book/notepad ; Face washer ; Drink bottle ; PuzzleToy cars (small ones from the cheap shop) ; Cards or cardgames such as Uno ; Small teddy. Please consider how you can pa rticipate with a spirit ofgenerosity in this free dress day, reflecting on the needs ofthe less fortunate people that we are going to serve in Fiji.Students are encouraged to dress in ‘islander’ themedclothing. Keep in mind that whatever clothes are worn onthat day need to cover as much area as the College sportsuniform.YOUTH GROUP ACTIVITIESHey Kids ….
