256 Pneumatic IndicatorThe 256 pneumatic indicator is usedto activate and read pneumaticpiezometers, total pressure cells, and settlement cells. The indicator employs top qualitycomponents and is constructed towithstand many years of hard use.Overview of OperationBefore leaving for the site, check thatthe indicator’s tank is charged withgas. The built-in tank holds enoughgas for busy reading schedules. On site, set the pressure regulator.Proper regulation results in lower gasconsumption and prevents damageto the pressure gauge.Connect transducer tubing to theindicator using the included jumpertubing.Turn on the gas to activate the transducer.Gas flows down through thetubing to the transducer.Wait for the return-flow indicator toshow a return flow of gas, then shutoff the gas or use the precision flowratevalve and flowmeter to slow theflow of gas.Wait for the pressure reading on themain gauge to stabilize, then writedown the reading. Take a secondreading for verification, then disconnectand move to the next transducer.AdvantagesChoice of Pressure Gauges: Bothdigital and analog gauges are available.See the list of pressure gaugeson the next page.Precision Flowmeter: Use the precisionflowmeter when reading withflow or when pressuring long lines.High Quality Components: The 256Indicator is built for hard and longuse. It employs the best quality tubefittings, tubing, valves, gauges, andtank.256 Pneumatic Indicator256 Pneumatic Pressure Indicator with Digital Gauge256 Indicator with Analog GaugeG E O T E C H N I C A L & S T R U C T U R A L I N S T R U M E N T A T I O N 85

Standardregular outputs a maximum pressure of 1030kPa (150 psi).Internal Tank: 1.38 liter (84 in 3 ), rated for1390 MPa (2015 psi). Recommended gas is drynitrogen, 3 ppm H 2 0 maximum.Precision Flowmeter: The flowmeter providesa repeatability of ±0.5% FS and is pressure ratedfor 1.7 MPa (250 psi). It is graduated in millimeters. When reading with flow, the recommendedsetting is a flowrate of 30 mm, which is equivalentto 0.1 SCFH or 47 cc/min.Filler Hose: For filling tank from external nitrogenbottle. 2 m hose (7') with quick-connect fittingfor indicator and screw-on fitting forexternal bottle.Jumper Tubing: Connects indicator to terminalpanel or to transducer tubing. 2 m jumper (7')with quick-connect fittings at each end. Twintubeor triple-tube jumper is supplied, dependingwhich options are ordered.Weight: About 11 kg (24 lb) including full tankand jumper hose. Exact weight depends onpressure gauge.Size: 508 x 457 x 178 mm (20 x 18 x 7").256 INDICATORWith 0.25% Analog Gauge. . . . . . 51425601With 0.25% Digital Gauge . . . . . . 51425602Twin-tube indicator includes pressure gauge, precision flowmeter, filler hose, twin-tubejumper, and manual. Please specify range and units for pressuregauge.
