So Ipurchased DC Universe Onlineon the PS3 recently. The storylineis fascinating. Lex Luthor comesfrom the future to warn us thatBrainiac will conquer the earth.Lex sends little machines thatcontain the powers of various superheroes. We create our characterand then break free of Brainiacsship. At this point we have tofollow the different missions toprogress the storyline.The core of DC UniverseOnline is fighting. We go aftergoons from a variety of supervillains. Since this is an onlinegame we share these enemieswith other players. They respawnquickly so sometimes completingmissions around others is agood idea. DC Universe Onlineincludes enticement to lust - highfrequency, and blood. This is ontop of the previously mentionedviolent content. The cities looknice in DC Universe Online, eventhough many have been destroyedin specific areas.I enjoy the various voiceactors in DC Universe Online.They do a great job of addingcontinuity to this online game.The bad language is somethingI could have done without. Thelack of good language filters isanother problem- as other playerscan have foulmouths.DC UniverseOnlinecontains a varietyof missions, hugeareas, skills, andpowers. Our characterhas to have amentor - someonelike Superman orBatman. No wecan not play thosecharacters. Wecan fight side by side with themin certain missions. But we canhave multiple characters. Certaincontent in DC Universe Onlinerequires real world dollars topurchase.My biggest beef with DCUniverse Online is direction. I raninto all kinds of issues figuringout where to go. The text on thescreen is way too small. ObviouslyDC Universe Online wasdesigned with the PC in mind,and not the consoles. Most missionshas us destroying somethingand/or killing so many ofa certain kind of character. Thisgets boring really fast.DC Universe Onlinerequires 16 gigs, and took overfour hours to install the first timeI played it. Both of these are realdowners. I applaud Sony for puttingthis game on the PS3 andfor allowing usto avoid playerversus playercombat if weare not into that.Ultimately DCUniverse Onlineis a boring andrepetitive game.The only excitementis levelingup and gettingnew skills.
