The “Residential Telecommunications<br />
– Infrastructure Standard” (TIA-570-B)<br />
published by the Telecommunications Industry<br />
Association (TIA) provides specifications for<br />
grades of cabling, installation, termination<br />
and testing for residential voice, data and<br />
video wiring. The Electronics Industries<br />
Association (EIA) has established EIA-IS-60<br />
as the standard for whole-house automation<br />
over multiple media, specifically for twisted<br />
pair and coaxial cables. This standard is<br />
also known as the Consumer Electronics Bus<br />

The Uniprise UNMDU-SW-8 is a compact<br />
network switch providing 10/100 Base-T,<br />
fast ethernet switching and high performance<br />
at a low cost. Its 8-port 10/100 BASE-<br />
TX switch accepts up to seven computers<br />
simultaneously and automatically detects<br />
connection speed for both 10 Mb/s and<br />
100 Mb/s devices. This versatile switch is<br />
also a store and forward switching device<br />
that can auto-learn and store source<br />
IP addresses.<br />
The Uniprise UNMDU-DDM-8 is a data<br />
transmission module supporting up to<br />
eight data outlets for either Category 5e<br />

The Uniprise UNMDU-VDM video distribution<br />
modules are passive, high-quality nonamplified<br />
splitters that provide reliable<br />
video signals for 4, 6 or 8 television<br />
outlets throughout the premise. For higher<br />
performance video signal, the video amplifier<br />
(UNMDU-VAM) can be used with any of<br />
the modules.<br />
The Uniprise UNMDU-VAM is a 10 dB<br />
bi-directional amplifier used to strengthen<br />
the video signal coming into the UNMDU<br />
access enclosure. The amplifier allows the<br />
strengthened signal to be distributed into<br />
one of the modules (UNMDU-VDM series)<br />
throughout the unit. A 12 VDC power<br />
