Malfunction and Diagnostic SystemRequirements--2004 and Subsequent Model-Year Passenger Cars, Light-Duty Trucks, andMedium-Duty Vehicles and Engines” Section (e) (13.1), the VVT System is considered malfunctioningwhen, for all 2006 and subsequent model year Low Emission Vehicles, a target error and/or a slowresponse of a commanded VVT System causes an increase of the vehicle’s emission of 1.5 times.Lamborghini OBD II system monitors the components and the performance of VVT system. Itmonitors:1) every cam sensor;2) the crankshaft position sensor;3) the Signal Sequence;4) every solenoid oil control valve (OCV);5) the alignment between crankshaft and camshaft;6) the performance of VVT system.The diagnosis at points from 1 to 5 are described in the Comprehensive Component MonitoringSection, (e) (from 16.8.1 to 16.8.5).The following diagnosis is performed, on each bank, both for the performance of the inlet VVTSystem and for the performance of the exhaust one. It is a diagnosis that contemporary monitors thetarget position and the response time.The difference between the requested cam position (VVT Target Position) and the actuated one ishigher than a threshold for a fixed time and an error counter increases. When this counter overcomes acalibration threshold of 5 times, the fault is detected and the corresponding pending fault code is stored.The Pcodes for this diagnosis are:P000A: Intake Variable Valve Timing Control Range/Performance Bank RightP000B: Exhaust Variable Valve Timing Control Range/Performance Bank RightP000C: Intake Variable Valve Timing Control Range/Performance Bank LeftP000D: Exhaust Variable Valve Timing Control Range/Performance Bank Left.The functional check isn’t performed if one of the following diagnostics is already in fault:1) the corresponding cam sensor;2) the crankshaft position sensor;3) the Signal Sequence;4) the corresponding solenoid oil control valve (OCV);5) the alignment between crankshaft and the “in question” camshaft._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________The information and procedures published below are strictly confidential and intended exclusively for authorized operators andindividuals.
