WCSFHeat-shrinkable heavy-wall flame-retarded tubingfor nuclear environmentsRaychem WCSF tubing is a heavywall,flame-retarded, heat-shrinkabletubing. It is pre-coated with a hotmelt, radiation-resistant adhesive toprovide a positive environmental seal.It is designed for electrical insulatingup to 1000 V and general purposesealing applications where flameretardancy, radiation resistance andsevere environmental performanceare required.WCSF tubing is suitable for a widerange of jointing or connection applicationsfor Class 1E wire and cablesystems in accordance with IEEE 383.Each connection is individually insulatedand sealed. Additionally, thesleeves can also be used for a widerange of related applications includingsealing, oversheath replacement andstrain relief throughout the plant. They can also be supplied as kits ofcomponents for specific applications.WCSF tubing is already qualified fora 60-year service life to take intoaccount the requirements of the thirdgeneration of nuclear power plants. The heat-shrinkability of TycoElectronics‘ Raychem WCSF tubingprovides fast and easy installation, positive visual inspection and apre-engineered insulation thicknessto assure consistent installation.WCSF tubing is supplied under thecomprehensive Tyco Electronics´Raychem Quality Assurance Programmewith certified documentationto meet industry requirements forsafety related electrical equipment.WCSF properties Test method RequirementTensile strength ISO 37 8.2 N/mm 2 min.Ultimate elongation ISO 37 250 % min.Density ISO 1183/3 Method A 1.35 g/cm 3 max.Accelerated ageing 200 h at 175° C ISO 1881600 h at 150° CTensile strength ISO 37 7 N/mm 2 min.Ultimate elongation ISO 37 100 % min.Low temperature 4 hours at – 55° C ASTM D2671 no crackingflexibilityProcedure CFlammability ICEA S-19-81 Sec. 6. 19.6 self-extinguishing in < 1 minDielectric strength nominal wall IEC 60243/1+2 75 kV/cm min.thickness 2.5 mmVolume resistivity IEC 60093 1 x 10 13 Ωcm min.Water absorption ISO 60062 < 0.5 % after 24 h at 23° + – 2°CCorrosive effect 16 h at 135° C ASTM D2671 Procedure A no corrosionHeat ageing 200 h at 175° C Raychem internaland radiation followed by 50 Mrad test methodgamma-radiation(0.5 – 1.0 Mrad/h)followed by:Tensile strength ISO 37 5.5 N/mm 2 min.Ultimate elongation ISO 37 50 % min.Additional properties Further details are given in Raychem specification PPS 3010.
