SYLLABUS<strong>Management</strong> Accounting introduces the fundamental knowledge and techniques of management accounting.The topics include: (1) Managerial accounting and the new business environment; (2) The foundation ofmanagerial accounting: Cost terms, concepts, and classifications, job order costing, process costing, activitybasedcosting, and quality management systems; (3) Tools for planning and control: Cost-volume-profitrelationships, variable costing, profit planning, standard costs, operating performance measures, flexiblebudgets, overhead analysis, segment reporting, profitability analysis, and (4) Using cost data in making decisions,such as: Product line discontinuation, make or buy, special order acceptance, and utilization of scarce resources,and process further of joint products.Advertising and Integrated Marketing Communications provides a comprehensive overview of advertising andpromotion from and an integrated marketing communications (IMC) perspective. A primary goal of the course isto shift the perceptual focus of students from an audience to a creator of advertising promotion strategies for businesses.An appreciation of how each of the key subjects involving competitive positioning, marketing research, and mediaplanning influences the effectiveness of an advertiser’s campaign would be developed.
