Student insurance forms are available in the NHS Administration Office or from the athletic director’s office. The insurance contract isbetween the insurance company and the insured student. Some type of insurance is mandatory for athletes.Expectations for Extra-Curricular ParticipationParticipants will be expected to follow the standards listed below:1. Be courteous to opponents, fans, and cheerleaders.2. Be positive and cooperative.3. Respect and abide by the official's decision.4. Exercise self-control at all times; never boo an official, coach, cheerleader, or player. Violation of the Conduct ofStudents may result in further disciplinary action from the coach/advisor/administrator.5. Learn to win with character and lose with dignity.6. Follow the appropriate dress standards established by the school, school district, coaches, and advisors.7. If suspended out-of-school, the student may not participate in any activity during the time of suspension.8. Follow the School Board Attendance Policy. On days of an extra-curricular event, the participating student must bepresent in two or more classes to be eligible to participate that day. The administrator or designee must clear anytravel and/or extenuating circumstances requiring an exception in advance. On the school day following any activity,event, or contest, participants (coaches, advisors, and students) are expected to be in attendance at school.9. Display appreciation for a good performance or play regardless of the team.Extra-Curricular/Co-Curricular ProgramThe extra-curricular program at Nampa High School consists of a host of challenging activities designed to appeal to diverse interestsand talents. From the artist to the athlete, the student may seek to participate in activities where he/she can further develophim/herself academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. NHS and the other district high schools offer a wide range of cocurricularactivities. The club sponsor must be present at all club activities and clubmeetings. Concession privileges for operation on campus must be obtained from the athletic director.Fund-Raising ActivitiesMost of the activities, clubs, organizations, and classes conduct fund-raising activities during the school year. These must be approvedin advance by the administration, and all funds collected are dispersed to the Associated Student Body Fund according to establishedfinancial guidelines. Students collecting money for school organizations must turn in the money to the faculty sponsor on a daily basis.Interscholastic Activity EligibilityAll students must meet the following NHS minimum standards as well as the IHSAA standards in order to be eligible to participate inafter school activities:1. Students must be enrolled full-time (minimum of 4 classes for seniors), and must have passed 3 of 4, 4 of 5, 5 of 6, 5 of 7, 6 of 8classes. This policy applies to all students at NHS in grades 9-12. All activities governed by the Idaho High School ActivitiesAssociation are covered by this policy. Students falling below the minimum standard will become academically ineligible to try outfor their chosen activity. (See the Eligibility Grading Policy below.)2. All participants and their parent/guardian must have completed, signed and returned, the Nampa HighSchool Participation Form.A. Notwithstanding any other district policy violation, any civil or criminal law infraction or conduct by a student participantthat is determined by the team head coach and building athletic/activities director to be detrimental to the activity program,school or school district will result in advising by the team head coach and the building athletic/activities director withpossible suspension or expulsion from activities.B. For athletic activities, no participant may quit one sport and turn out for another after the season has begun without mutualconsent of both team head coaches and the building athletic/activities director.- 21 -
