Volunteer Recruitment Workshop<br />

Do you need to recruit more volunteers or look at some<br />

retention strategies? This workshop will look at what is<br />

effective recruitment and retention, focusing on<br />

Volunteering Australia’s National Standards and<br />

Contemporary recruitment and retention ideas and<br />

methods. Run by the <strong>Glenorchy</strong> Volunteer Centre and<br />

Volunteering Tasmania, the workshop will be held from<br />

10.30am-12.30pm at the <strong>Glenorchy</strong> Volunteer Centre.<br />

Animated Portraits<br />

Moonah Arts Centre, 65 Hopkins Street Moonah<br />

This exhibition features the work of young people from<br />

<strong>Glenorchy</strong> who have participated in a series of workshops in<br />

digital animation and video. The participants will address the<br />

theme of the portrait in a variety of ways including digital<br />

<strong>Glenorchy</strong> Community <strong>Fun</strong>d <strong>Fun</strong>draising Dinner<br />

Tattersalls Park <strong>Fun</strong>ction Centre<br />

Pre dinner drinks commence at 7pm, to be seated at 7.30pm,<br />

costing $65 per person for a two course carvery meal and<br />

dress code is whatever makes you feel special! <strong>Fun</strong>ds raised<br />

by the dinner will be used to provide financial assistance to<br />

community groups and organisations within the <strong>Glenorchy</strong><br />

If beadwork conjures up images of hippies and dangling,<br />

useless, crafts-market jewellery, Nelson-Smith will make<br />

those nightmares vanish. Rachel is a master bead weaver<br />

pushing the boundaries of improvisational bead weaving and<br />

it is a rare privilege to have her workshop at the Moonah<br />

Arts Centre. Book early as numbers will be limited –<br />

your backyard? All too often they go to waste – so why not<br />

swap them? Stoneman’s Community Food Swap is open to<br />

anybody who grows their own fresh produce. No money<br />

changes hands, making it a very cost effective way for<br />

people to obtain fresh, local fruit and vegies as well as<br />

swapping information and ideas. Food Swap will be held from<br />

on the history of the centre from 2pm-3pm. Colin Denison<br />

will make a presentation on the history of the centre and the<br />

surrounding area. Stay for a cuppa, a chat and find out more<br />

2011 IMMUNISATION SCHEDULE<br />

Immunisation sessions are held at the Civic Centre, Cooper St,<br />

<strong>Glenorchy</strong> between 2pm & 3pm on the second Wednesday of each<br />

month: November 9th, December 14th. The following vaccines are<br />

available free for the listed age groups.<br />

Other vaccines available at cost include: Seasonal Influenza, Meningococcal,<br />

Diphtheria / Tetanus / Pertussis, and Chicken Pox.<br />

Weekly garbage collection services are<br />

available for <strong>Glenorchy</strong> Residents.<br />

For residents who prefer a weekly garbage collection service,<br />

the <strong>Council</strong> has a special residents arrangement* with Veolia<br />

Environmental Services to collect your wheelie bin from your property<br />

on alternate weeks, separate to the standard <strong>Council</strong> fortnightly<br />

service. This arrangement attracts an additional charge payable<br />

direct to Veolia Environmental Services.<br />

This effectively provides a weekly collection service<br />

for those residents who wish to have a weekly collection service.<br />

* Only available to standard service of 140 litre bin.<br />
