We might have been small in numbers, but we were large in presence. Pacific Sipping Caesers(PSC) never looked so good or partied so hard before. For those of you who missed (including some of you can’t remember theweekend), it was a blast and a half. The Pacific team scored all weekend long, coming in first, second or third in most events. Evenwith the change in rules for Beer Drinking, we still ruled the hops.A weekend like this can’t happen though without the help of many, many people. I am going to do my best to capture everyone, but I know I am going to miss some of you, but please know that my thanks are still heartfelt. So many thanks to the following:• Tania LePage, Christine Roberts, Liz Simon, Dave Mouck, Chris Roberts Bryan Freeman for manning the WelcomingCommittee shifts. She did such a great job, she has beenpromoted to Co-Coordinator for next year.I hope I haven’t forgotten anyone and if I have, I do apologize – please blame it on my fuzzy memory of the weekend, brought onby too much Jell-ONow – for a word from one of our virgins…NancyCan’t believe its already a week since I was scrambling to get my butt up to Sicamous for the Summer OKs...Glad I did - was the most fun I’ve had in a very long time.Thank you for all your work organizing the event - as a former TV producer I understand the incredible amount of effort andplanning (and teamwork) that went into making it such a fantastic weekend. The people I met were amazing, creative, welcoming, fun and full of life!I look forward to participating in other PSC events and will count the 51 remaining weeks till it happens again...Until next year ….Love you guyswww.pacificskiclub.com Page 7

October 2012 BootPress The Pacific Ski ClubReviewsSoftball League ReviewWebbie who? Was he once-upon-a-time the SoftballCommissioner? Can anyone remember? Our brand spankingnew Commissioner, Scott Venema, took that torch fromWebbie and off he went. He started the season in May with 10teams. The teams duked it out every week in the rain, sun andsleet (did you not see that awful Junary month?!?!). We endedthe season in August with a weekend tournament at WestburnPark in Burnaby along with the first ever PSC Beer Garden. Many thanks to Liz, Mimi, Bryan, Dave, Mandy, Rebecca, Nancy,Leif, Roger and the many that coordinated and helped withthe beer garden. Pictures of the event can be seen in the PSCSmugmug page. The league would like to extend an invitation to all PSCmembers and friends to the end of season ball dance onSeptember 29 at the Oakridge Auditorium (41st & Cambie –Oakridge Mall beside Safeway). There will be food, a cash barand dancing. Lots of players on the teams are current and ex-PSC members. The Pacific Ski Club BootPress October 2012ReviewsBC Lung Association’s “Trek for Life and Breath”200 kms, 2 days, 280 ridersThe five PSC riders departed Hazelmere campground under sunny skies and warmtemperatures on Saturday, September 8th. Our team also had the honour of including2 volunteers and the weekend’s most experienced rider, Daphne at 85 years.Their mission was to ride 100 km, stay overnight, and then return the next day. Easiersaid than done, after two kms one of the riders was slowed by a pre-existing rib injury(OKs injury?).Their numbers dropped to four with the injured rider staying to volunteer over theweekend. After three rest stops and 90 kms on the road a pub beckoned. No shinylights or loud music, just cold beer and cider. Refreshments were sampled and theriders resumed their pace and encountered the final hurdle – a one kilometer climbwith a 30% grade just before the finish line. Into the climb the riders rode, propellingthemselves upwards, some on foot, and some in the saddle. The campground gatescame into site welcoming them with hot showers, refreshments, dinner, a swimmingpool, a hot tub and live entertainment.Sunday morning beckoned with slightly cooler temperatures and overcast skies. In all reality a real great riding day! The same route back challenged the riders withstrong head winds on many stretches. The route even included a stop in a winerywhere the wares could be sampled. None the less, all riders in our team finished therace in good fashion.Mark your calendars for next year as the ride will take place theweekend after the summer oks.www.pacificskiclub.com Page 11
