2012 WINTER TAX INFORMATION: The2012 winter taxes and 1% administration fee aredue between December 1, 2012 and February 14,2013. To pay taxes without penalty or interest,they must be received and receipted prior tothe close <strong>of</strong> business (5:00 p.m.) February 14,2013. No exceptions can be made for checkdates or postmarks. All checks must clear or thepayment is void.After February 14, a 3% penalty is added.Senior citizens 65 & older with an annualincome under $40,000 ($40,000 summer) areeligible for a tax deferment, the correct formmust be on file with the <strong>City</strong> Treasurer and mustbe renewed every summer and winter.Delinquent summer taxes are subject to aone time 4% fee and interest <strong>of</strong> 1% per monthuntil paid. Contact <strong>City</strong> Hall for amount due ondelinquent summer taxes. Legally, we are unableto waive the late fees or penalties.<strong>Plainwell</strong> AreaCommunity CenterProviding a safe and comfortable place forarea residents to meet.The Center is owned by the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Plainwell</strong> andleased for one dollar per year to the <strong>Plainwell</strong> AreaCommunity Center Board <strong>of</strong> Directors whichoperates the Center as a 501(c)(3) nonpr<strong>of</strong>itcorporation. The directors are volunteers who areresponsible for day-to-day operations and majorimprovements. Operational expenses are paid fromrental income. Major improvements are funded bydonations and foundation grants.Twenty-five groups rent the Center on a regularbasis. Others rent the Center for wedding receptions,funeral luncheons, parties, seminars, workshops, etc.For information about rental rates and availability,please call (269) 685-8911 or 685-3152 (Chris Haas).Our environment is smoke-free and no alcoholicbeverages are allowed on the premises.The Community Center Board thanks everyone whohas helped the Center fulfill its mission <strong>of</strong> “providinga safe and comfortable place for area residents tomeet.”www.plainwellcc.orgPromote your Business<strong>City</strong> Hall has two locked display cases in thehallway across from the cashiers’ windowwhich are now available to promote businessesthat are located within <strong>Plainwell</strong> city limits.<strong>City</strong> businesses may showcase products orservices for one calendar month. Displaysare to be promptly set up and removed by thebusiness. A display case may be reserved up toa year in advance on a first-come, first servebasis.
