Counsellor’s Corner<br />
The grade 7’s were given their grade 8 registration<br />
forms last week. Please be sure to fill the<br />
registration form out and return it to the school to<br />
enable your child to get their preferred choices for<br />
next year.<br />
The grade 9 registration for MHHS took place on<br />
March 22 nd during the morning classes for the grade<br />
8’s. The administrators and counsellors from<br />
MHHS explained the programs and options<br />
available to the students. It is very important to<br />
complete these registration forms and return them<br />
as soon as possible to MHHS if you have not<br />
already returned them.<br />
The 3 rd Report Card will be issued on April 23 rd .<br />
Please ensure your child has all of their assignments<br />
handed in before any due dates. Incomplete<br />
assignments are a major reason for student report<br />
card marks to be lower than expected.<br />
TRANSITION 9 PROGRAM AT MHHS: There<br />
will be an information meeting at MHHS on<br />
Tuesday, May 4 th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 615, for any<br />
parents interested in the program. This program is<br />
for students who are having difficulty with the<br />
regular grade 8 curriculum and whose parents feel<br />
their child may benefit from an alternative program<br />
other than the regular grade 9. Please contact Mrs.<br />

April 14th is Pink Shirt Day at AMS! Come to<br />
school in your pinkest shirt and take a stand against<br />
Bullying! Everybody is<br />
affected by bullying<br />
whether or not you are a<br />
target, a bystander or a<br />
bully. Let's show that<br />
we are not going to<br />
accept that behaviour in<br />

MyPlace at <strong>Alexandra</strong> is pleased to introduce Gail<br />
Wist, one of our Community Health Nurses, to the<br />
school on April 19 th , May 10 th and May 31 st . She is<br />
available to students who have a health-related issue<br />
that they need help with.<br />
Are you interested in learning first aid or child care<br />
skills that can help you get a job babysitting and<br />
make extra money? MyPlace is organizing a<br />
Babysitter's Course on June 11 th . The cost is $20<br />
per person and there are only 15 spots available.<br />

Parents, come out and learn more about the new<br />
parenting program to assist you in your journey<br />
through the tricky maze of parenthood. Angela<br />
Dunn, Child and Family Development Worker from<br />
the McMann ParentLink Centre, will be presenting<br />
a seminar on the Triple P Parenting Series. Come<br />
out and learn new skills and strategies that will help<br />
you feel like you are the parent you want to be. To<br />
learn more about this session, please contact us at<br />
the MyPlace office.<br />
For those students, teachers and parents who<br />
completed our annual survey, we just want to say<br />
thank you for taking the time to give your thoughts<br />
and input. As this project moves into its third year<br />
of funding and works toward a sustainable future,<br />
we look forward to the support of the students, staff<br />
and community so we can continue to provide<br />
services to our students and help them to be healthy,<br />
strong and able community members in the future!<br />
