<strong>KSA</strong> <strong>Project</strong> Overviewo The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (<strong>KSA</strong>)project is <strong>IADC</strong>’s major drilling industryproject to develop enhanced competencyguidelines for virtually all rig based positionsthat can be sorted based on rig type,environment, geographic region, andequipment.
<strong>KSA</strong> <strong>Project</strong> Rationaleo Responds to both regulator and industry call for aglobally accepted recommended commoncompetence standardo Fulfills the need for industry developed andaccepted guidelines for assessing competence andevaluating performance for all rig based positionso Part of an effort to address the looming talentcrisis and increased staffing requirementso <strong>KSA</strong>s seen as a crucial step in developingworkforce capabilities
Phase 1 (complete)o World Mapping exercise which included in and outof industry modelso Global survey of the industry, trade organizations,and regulatory bodieso Review of survey results for best practice,templates and implementation modelso Defining of competencies for each positionidentified

<strong>KSA</strong> Databaseo An essential part of the <strong>KSA</strong> project involvesbuilding a relational database for delivering ondemand,unique <strong>KSA</strong>s by position.o The online database enables the user to narrow<strong>KSA</strong>s based on selection of specific criteriaoptions such as position, environment, rig type,equipment, geographic region, etc.o <strong>KSA</strong> (core competencies) will be generated basedon selected criteria. Additional competenciesmay be selected and added to create acustomized <strong>KSA</strong>s.
