• Semester exams for the Fall 2012 semesterwill begin with 8 th period exams onWednesday December 19 th• First, Third, Fifth <strong>and</strong> Seventh period examswill be administered on Thursday December20 th• Second, Fourth <strong>and</strong> Sixth period exams willbe administered on Friday December 21 st


Students can be exempt from a semester examif they meet a specific criteria in their class.The number of exemptions allowed is basedon grade level.▪ 9 th grade – 2 exemptions per semester▪ 10 th grade – 3 exemptions per semester▪ 11 th grade – 4 exemptions per semester▪ 12 th grade – 5 exemptions per semester


• No unexcused absence in a class• 3 or less tardies in a class (4 th tardy results inloss of exemption)• 90-100 in a class with no more than 3 excusedabsences.• 80-89 in a class with no more than 2 excusedabsences.• 70-79 in a class with 1 or less excusedabsences.


• All absences that count for the school stateattendance rate are counted as absencestoward exemptions.• Modifications <strong>and</strong> allowances regarding theexemption policy must be approved by acampus administrator.• No student that has received a SWISplacement in a semester may be exempt.


• Students will receivethis form on MondayDecember 17 th intheir first periodclass.


• Teachers will notify students of exemptionqualifications in Part I (top section) of theform on Monday December 17 th <strong>and</strong> TuesdayDecember 18 th .• Students will designate which classes theyare choosing to use their exemptions for onPart II (bottom section) of the form.


• IT IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TOGET THE APPROPRIATE TEACHERSIGNATURES IN PART II. Failure to do so willresult in loss of exemption.• Students will return their completed forms totheir first period teacher on WednesdayDecember 19 th during first period.


Teachers will ensure that a student is not exemptingfrom more than their allotted number ofexemptions. Teachers will mark in their grade books thestudents whose forms they sign, so they willknow who will take their exam.


• Mon Dec 17 th – <strong>Exemption</strong> Forms h<strong>and</strong>ed tostudents• Mon/Tue Dec 17/18 – Students are notified ofexemption qualification/status• Wed Dec 19 – Students – Return completedexemption forms to first period teachers• Wed Dec 19 – Testing Begins during 8 th period


• Wed Dec 19 – <strong>Exam</strong>s begin 8 th period• Thurs Dec 20 – <strong>Exam</strong>s periods 1, 3, 5, 7• Fri Dec 21 – <strong>Exam</strong>s periods 2, 4, 6• (Early Out)


• What happens if a students misses their exam?• An unexcused absence from an exam results in agrade of a zero for the semester exam.• Where do I go if I am exempt?• An exempt student may remain in their classroom,leave campus or go to main cafeteria during the timefor the test which they are exempt from.• What if a student loses their form?• Any student who loses their form must request a newform from Mr. Maines. Getting a new form is notguaranteed. TAKE CARE OF YOUR ORIGINAL FORM,IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AS THE STUDENT!!!
