Ms. Beth Cooper, BBADD (Big BucsAgainst Drinking and Drugs) Sponsor, and two students – Taylor VanDevenderand Ceri Merendino presented the Board Members and Administrators with RedRibbons.For the last four (4) years, the Vidor Independent School District has had at leastthe Elementary Teacher of the Year or the Secondary Teacher of the Year, ThisYear the Vidor Independent School District is proud to say that we have both theElementary Teacher of the Year and the Secondary Teacher of the Year. Mrs.Linda Durmon, Principal at Vidor Elementary, will introduce Ms. Terri Herring,our 2008 Region Five Elementary Teacher of the Year and Mr. Killgo, Principal atVidor High School, will introduce Mr. Chad VanDevender, our 2008 Region FiveSecondary Teacher of the Year. Ms. Herring and Mr. VanDevender will berecognized in Austin on November 21, 2008. CONGRATULATIONS and THANKYOU to both of you!


Employee of the Month (September) – Ms. Heather Foy, AIM Center High SchoolEmployee of the Month (October)- Missy Whitmire, Vidor Elementary SchoolMs. Sally Kirkpatrick, Director of School/Community Relations, recognized Mr.George Garza of the Vidor Vidorian and Mr. Tommy Mann of the Orange Leaderwith the TASB Media Honor Roll Award, for their continued support of the VidorIndependent School District.The Board recognized the 2008-2009 Ambassadors of Pine Forest Elementary:Hunter Barton, Kyle Cavel, Emily Christman, Colby Clark, Cade Daughrity, TaylorFrederick, Alston Jones, Tia LaForge, Porter LaPray, Tess Manley, BayleeMcGlothin, Kourtlin McKay, Kennedy Nations, Paxton Nations, Brett Nunez,Tiffany Oldbury, Ana Plake, Maverick Quirante, Savannah Sanford, and KessValvoda. A few of the qualities that these students possess are: respectful,pride, good behavior, trustworthy, reliable, punctual, loyal, help others anddisplay leadership. The Board and Administrators are very proud of these youngstudents and their accomplishments. CONGRATULATIONS!The Board also recognized the Vidor Junior High Cheerleaders for the awardsthey received at SFA University Cheer Camp, held June24-27, 2008 – including:9 superior ribbons, spirit stick, large spirit trophy, Home Pom-Camp Champs andX-treme rountine-Camp Champs, jump champ and 4 ALL-Star Cheerleaders.They are Alex Duncan, Madeline Brewer, Kristin Jordan, Maddison Forister, KaraLacouture, Samantha Guthrie, Alexus Middleton, Paige Kennon, Lexi Minton,Bailey Rench, Jade Respess, Brooke Robinson, Kasidi Thibodeaux, BaileyRogers, Darian Van Hyfte, and Kelsey Watson. The Board and Administratorsare very proud of these young ladies and their awards. Motion by Mr. Sonnier, seconded by Mr. Kilmer, to approve the Soccer overnightfield trip request as presented and remove the Brigadette trip for furtherdiscussion. Those voting for: Mr. Sonnier, Mr. Harland, Mr. Quinn, Mr. Kilmer,Mr. Camp, Mr. Houston, and Mrs. Sarver. Those Voting Against: None. ThoseAbstaining: None. Thank you andCONGRATULATIONS!Mr. Houston – the young children will be our foundation for tomorrow – it is aprivilege to see all of the accomplishments and be a part of this greatness.Mr. Harland – I want to let Mr. Hayes know that he is doing a great job and that Iappreciate him. Thank you!Mrs. Sarver – I was very proud of the Vidor High School Student Council, Band,Big Buc, Faculty, and Administrators of the Vidor Independent School Districtwhen they traveled to High Island Independent School District to deliver a truckload of school supplies.Mr. Sonnier – I would like to thank all of the students, parents, grandparents forcoming tonight. We received an email from Mayo Neyland and he reported thatwe had 79 survey responses – which gave us a total of 125 responses – whichisn’t a bad showing for a District this size – everyone is saying the same. I wouldalso like to thank Mr. Hayes for his efforts and keeping us on task – THANKYOU!
