Activities Around Town4Kids Adventure Camp Sproul Reception Center · 12239 Sproul StreetMonday-Friday, July 11-August 19 • 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.Extended Hours (7:00-8:00 a.m. & 5:00-6:00 p.m.Cost: $105 per child, per session (Residents) Extended hours $20 per child, per session (Residents)$155 per child, per session (Non-Residents) Extended hours $30 per child, per session (Non-Residents)The Recreation Department offers a six-week Summer Day Camp for children ages 6-11. The camp provides a wide variety of activities plannedfor youth including swimming, games, arts and crafts, and a weekly field trip. Excursions take place on Wednesdays unless otherwise noted.Lunch will be provided daily.Registration will be held on Saturday, June 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Norwalk Arts & Sports Complex.Additional registration hours will take place during the Norwalk Arts & Sports Complex operating hours: Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m.-9:00p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.Day Camp Deposit Procedures: To hold your spot for multiple sessions, Norwalk residents must make one full session payment with a minimumdeposit of $50 per week/per child for each additional session. Non-residents must make one full session payment with a minimum deposit of$75 per week/per child for each additional session.The remaining balance for deposits is due two weeks prior to the start of the Day Camp session. No refunds will be given if you decide to cancel.No exceptions.In order to be eligible for resident rates, at the time of registration, parents must provide proof of residency (i.e., a bill, drivers license, taxinformation). Parents must also verify their child’s age (i.e., birth certificate, medical records, school registration).Please Note: Extended hours (7:00-8:00 a.m. and 5:00-6:00 p.m.) are available for a nominal fee. Parents must enroll for the extended hoursprogram at the time of their registration. D.D. Johnston-Hargitt House Museum (All Ages)12426 Mapledale StreetSaturday, June 4 & 18, July 16, August 6 & 20 · 1:00-4:00 p.m.The Museum iscurrently registeredon the NationalRegistry of HistoricalPlaces and, at onetime, held up to 200acres of grapes, prune,avocado, and citrustrees. Built in 1891,the D.D. Johnston-Hargitt House Museum is a two-story Eastlake Victorian farmhousethat was owned by Darius David Johnston. He was one of Norwalk’s leading pioneersas well as the organizer of the Norwalk School District. He served on the school boardfrom the late 1880’s until his death in 1917. The Museum contains D.D. Johnston-Hargitt family heirlooms and other memorabilia as well as glimpses into Norwalk’spast. The Museum is brought to life through docent-led tours given by the Friendsof Hargitt House. Admission is free; however, donations are always welcome. PleaseNote: The Museum may be closed in inclement weather.
