How the Lumisys Telephone Override Module Works With a BAS09011352www.lumisys1.comLumisys is a Registered TrademarkInstallation GuideLTOMTelephone Override ModuleThe Lumisys Telephone Override Module (LTOM) output is binary code in a form readable by the buildingautomation system. This output is actually the lighting groups the BAS reads from a Lumisys lighting controlpanel. The difference is that the lighting groups are to be interpreted by the BAS as a binary code messagerather than status of lighting zones. Each of groups 1-12 represents a numeric value. These values form a code which must be interpreted by theBAS. The binary sum of groups 1-9 is the user’s ID#. The binary sum of groups 10-12 is the hours of overriderequested (1-6) or 7=cancel the override. The password is handled internally by LTOM, not the BAS.Group Decimal Value Meaning1 1 ID2 2 ID3 4 ID4 8 ID5 16 ID6 32 ID7 64 ID8 128 ID9 256 ID10 1 Hours Override11 2 Hours Override12 4 Hours OverrideAs an example, when prompted by the LTOM, the user enters the correct password, an ID of 5 and hoursoverride of 3 at the phone key pad. The LTOM translates these keystrokes into the correct output groupsand the BAS reads these as point 1, point 3 for the ID and point 10, point 11 for the hours override. The BASadds binary points 1 and 3 to get the decimal value of 5 for the user ID. Likewise, binary points 10 and 11results in the decimal value of 3 for the requested hours of override. The BAS must be programmed to implement the override on zone 5 for 3 hours. This can be handled anywaythat the BAS integrator chooses. Typically, zone 5 would be mapped to a circuit in a Lumisys relay panel. Executiontime will vary with your BAS method and is typically on the order of 30 to 60 seconds from hangup tolightings on.The factory recorded message assumes a keypad entry of 7 (translating into binary points 10, 11, and 12 whichadd up to decimal value 7) will be used by the BAS to cancel override for the associated ID zone. However, the voice prompts can be customized by the end user to take on any meaning desired. The network scanner card inside the LTOM enclosure is factory default set to RS-485 address 252; however,it can be set to any RS-485 address 1-255 as needed for the BAS by setting the rotary switches and rebootingthe unit.Due to continuous product improvement, Lumisys reserves the right to change product specifications without notice.Page

Configuration of the LUMISYS Telephone Override ModuleScanner CardInstallation GuideLTOMTelephone Override ModuleThe LTOM scanner card is simply the Lumisys Panel Processor, LMB. LTOM can reside on the same networkas the Lumisys lighting panels and is addressable 1-255 (Factory default address is 252). The addressis changed either by the increment/decrement pushbutton or the rotary switches on the network scannercard. Use the push button on units manufactured in 2006 with LMB card. Use rotary switches on units manufacturedin 2007 or later. Refer to current Lumisys processor documentation.ModemProgramming JackProgramming ButtonThe Modem designed to be a user controlled Phone Lineinterface to deliver over-ride data to abuilding automation system. Up to 510 zonescan be controlled. There is also an administratorpassword that allows access to any zone. The output is in the form of 12 virtual points, RS-232 Port1that present data in a binary format to theMicrophoneautomation system. Virtual Points 1-9 givethe address information and Virtual PointsUnused Port10-12 represent the number of hours. All userIDs and passwords are programmed using a standard RS-232interface to a terminal program, such as Hyper Terminal. TheLTOM comes from the factory with default English voice prompts. The end-user can re-record voice prompts if needed.ProgrammingLEDsTo program the LTOM, connect the RS-232 cable to a PC and run any standard terminal program, such asHyperTerminal. Set it to 9600,8,N,1 with flow control set to None or off. Set echo on.Default Passwords are set at the factory and can be reset into the unit at any time. The default passwords arethe same as the user ID, with an additional leading zero. For example, ID 123 has a password of 0123. Anyexisting passwords will be over-written by doing a default reset. To reset passwords to the defaults, enter *Don the terminal. You will be prompted RESET ALL PASSWORDS TO DEFAULT VALUES? Y(YES) N(NO) : .Enter a Y to reset, an N or any other character to cancel. All existing passwords can be output to a file or displayed by entering *L for List. A list will display the first unitID at the beginning of the line and then 4 passwords. For example:123- 0123 0124 0125 0126127- 0127 0128 0129 0130 etc.09011352www.lumisys1.comLumisys is a Registered TrademarkDue to continuous product improvement, Lumisys reserves the right to change product specifications without notice.Page

If an ID or password is out of range, the error message will display: InvalidEntry, unit must be 000 to 511, Password a 4 digit number .Administrator and Relay timingUnit IDs 000 and 511 are reserved for special use. The password programmed into unit ID 000 is the administrator’s.That password will be accepted for any unit ID code to allow control of that zone by the administrator. For example, if a password of 9876 is programmed into ID 000, and a password of 1234 is set for unit 200,then unit 200 can be controlled both by its own password 1234, and by the administrators password 9876.Unit ID 511 is reserved for the number of seconds that the Virtual Points will stay energized after a validcontrol command. The default value is 10 seconds. This value is changed by entering W511-nnnn with thenew value. Valid values are 0001 - 0200 seconds. Anything over 0200 will set the timer for 200 seconds, 0000will set it for 1 second.Voice PromptsThere are 6 user programmable voice prompts. These can be re-recorded at any time using a standardtelephone keypad. You must remove the top cover of the LTOM to access the programming jack, programmingbutton and record microphone. The six default messages are:Message 1 - Please enter your user number followed by the # sign.Message 2 - Enter your password followed by the # sign.Message 3 - Enter the number of over-ride hours, one to six or a seven for off.Message 4 - Thank you, your request has been submitted.Message 5 - Invalid Entry, please try again.Message 6 - Good bye. These can be changed or re-recorded in another language by plugging in a standard telephone to the programjack. The program jack is the vertical RJ-11 inside the box. Press the PGM button, located on the rear edgeof the board. The Green LED will turn off to indicate you are in program mode.
