Proposed Constitution change toRules of Procedure section 11bPORCUPINE NEWS6<strong>Porcupine</strong> Marine Natural HistorySociety AGM 2009The Annual General Meeting of the Societywill be held at Plymouth University, Plymouth,Devon on Saturday March 28 th 2009 (duringthe Annual Conference).In accordance with the Constitution, atleast two ordinary Council Members must retireeach year, but may make themselves availablefor immediate re-election. Retiring membersthis year are Paul Brazier and Peter Barfield.Paul Brazier and Peter Barfield are bothavailable for re-election. In addition, JuliaNunn and Frances Dipper who have steppeddown as Officers for the Society have beenproposed as ordinary Council members.Any proposals for additional candidatesare very welcome, and names should be sent tothe Chairman Julia Nunn: jdn@cherrycottage.myzen.co.ukOffice-bearers retire annually and arenormally available for immediate re-election.This year office bearers available for electionare listed below.The Council proposes the following officebearersChairman: Andy MackieHon. Activities of the Society shallinclude:(b) A <strong>Newsletter</strong> normally publishedtwice a year, which shall, in additionto other items, carry reports ofprevious meetings.<strong>Porcupine</strong> Marine Natural HistorySociety Small Grant Scheme – 2 ndroundThe <strong>Porcupine</strong> Marine Natural HistorySociety is pleased to announce an opportunityto apply for funding for small research projects.A total fund of £3000 is available for smallprojects of one to three months duration.Applications will be considered for any smallproject which falls within the objectives ofthe Society.The object of this Society is to promoteinterest in the ecology and distribution ofmarine fauna and flora in the N.E. Atlantic andthe Mediterranean.Projects may be field based or pursued ina laboratory or museum. The projects couldvary from basic sorting and identification, tospecialist identification/study of a particulartaxon of interest.The purpose of any project would be tomake information more accessible to the widercommunity, and therefore at least a writtensummary (e.g. a report for the newsletterand website) of any work undertaken will berequired. Any publication of the findings fromwork undertaken using the PMNHS Small Grantmust acknowledge the Grant and the Society.The fund may be used for research costs only,
