1.1 The International Office

The Center for Studying and training (ZSW) comprises the three Departments Central advisory
body, key competencies and scientific training. The Central Advisory Board is responsible for
prospective students and students and provides information and advice on all aspects of studying

2.1 Housing Search
As you may have already heard, the housing situation in Heidelberg quite tense. Of some 30,000
students at the University of Heidelberg receive only about 13% a place in the student dormitories

market dependent. During the past few years, rents in Heidelberg gradually increased. The rental

2.1.4 Housing Search for "Blackboards"

2.1.6 dormitories
In Heidelberg, there are approximately 4,200 student dormitories, most (about 3,300) are managed
by the student work. The older houses have single rooms with traditional floor-showers and
kitchens, mainly the newer 2-room apartments or residential groups for 3-5 residents. For the
disabled, there are a total of 10 rollstuhlfreundliche apartments, students with child (ren) are about
200 apartments with 1 1/2-4 rooms.
Each semester, approximately 20% of free room and newly hired. The selection is based on

The basic residential housing is limited to 4 semester, but there are many possibilities, such as

Rents vary depending on the age of the dormitory and comfort that you have. A single room with
floor facilities will cost 155 - 190 €, a room in a 2-bedroom apartment or a 3 - 5 he WG 175 - 270 €,
a single apartment with its own kitchen and shower, toilet and 285 €. In the rents are all costs,
including Internet access and cable television, where in the dormitory present, only radio and
telephone must be paid extra.

3.3 Various forms of residence permit
The residence permit is the "highest form of residence permits for foreigners from countries outside

At the university, there are different types of events. The main course types should briefly
explained:
Lecture (VL and V) = lectures are events in which the lecturer in on a specific topic with the
speaker concerns, an overview of a larger topic and literature proposals on further deepening
studies. There are a few exceptions usually no proof of performance.
Introduction events (E) = launch events give an insight into the fundamental issues a subject. A
proof of performance is mostly due to a final exam or domestic work.
Seminars (PS) = seminars are events of the basic studies (to the interim test). The objective of this
training event is to provide students an overview of the key issues, methods and basic concepts of
their trade and to give them in the techniques of scientific work. Special skills are not required to
participate. A power detection is usually based on a Kurzreferates and domestic work or final exam.
Seminars (HS; HpS) = seminars are the main events of the main study. Requirement is the

12.2 jobs and social security duty / tax
Social insurance liability
The social will include health insurance, pension, accident, unemployment and long-term care
