Therefore, our products are tested internal and also byexternal independent testing institutes. Our railing glazing with clamp fixtures has a national technicalapproval (AbZ; Z-70.2-28) as well as a European Technical Approval(ETA-11/0380). The brackets cp-mini and Banano have a general testcertificate (AbP).The European Technical Approval proves the usabilityand/or applicability of irregular constructions such asrailing glazing with clamp fixtures. It makes their useeasier for designers and qualified skilled workersso that, no further component tests are necessary. The ETA is valid throughout Europe.ETA-11/0380 can be downloaded at www.pauli.de2

ETA-11/0380Types of glassGreat diversity and big differencesThere are several different possible types of glassfor safety barrier glazing – in particular for glazingwith clamp fixtures according to the AbZ.Therefore, users are very unsure. Some characteristicson the types of glass are the following:Monolithic heat-soakedtoughened safety glassMonolithic heat-soaked toughened safety glass• Only admissible with heat soak test and according toe.g. the AbZ Z-70.2-28.• Most resistant for static loads (wind loads) as thecomposite action in laminated safety glass may notbe used in the calculation. This means that only adesign with monolithic heat-soaked toughened safetyglass is possible in outdoor applications and incase of high wind loads due to static reasons.• The required pendulum impact test has been passedin designs according to the AbZ.• High potential for danger in case of vandalism. Pleaseensure therefore that all edges are protected accordingto the AbZ.Laminated safety glass made oftoughened safety glass• Rather high load-bearing capacity.• Remaining load-bearing capacity if the glass breaks. However, in the case of an impact, there is a high riskthat the entire panel is ripped from its support.• The required pendulum impact test has been passedin designs according to the AbZ or the technical rulesfor the use of safety barrier glazing (TRAV).• Lower potential for danger in case of vandalism.Laminated safety glass made oftoughened safety glassLaminated safety glass made ofheat-strengthened glass• Rather low load-bearing capacity.• The required pendulum impact test has been passedin designs according to the AbZ or the TRAV.• Lower potential for danger in case of vandalism.Laminated safety glass made ofheat-strengthened glassLaminated safety glass made of float glass• Very low load-bearing capacity, so that it can not beused in outdoor applications due to static reasons.• Not suited for panels held by point mountings inholes.• The required pendulum impact test has been passedin designs according to the AbZ.• Lower potential for danger in case of vandalism.Laminated safety glass madeof float glassLaminated safety glass in connectionwith SentryGlas®• Not regulated according to the TRAV withSentryGlas® having an AbZ itself.• Very high load-bearing capacity as the compoundstructure may be used in the calculation.• High shock resistance due to the rigid behaviour.• Very well suited for railings with special requirementssuch as a free glass edge.Laminated safety glass inconnection with SentryGlas®12
