KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREASNEPAL <strong>SBI</strong> BANK LTD.Job Title: <strong>CHIEF</strong> <strong>CREDIT</strong> <strong>OFFICER</strong> (<strong>CCO</strong>)Location: <strong>Nepal</strong> <strong>SBI</strong> <strong>Bank</strong> <strong>Ltd</strong>. (NSBL), Corporate OfficePosition/Level: Chief Manager (CM)/Assistant General Manager (AGM)JOB PURPOSE:The Chief Credit Officer is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and administration of the<strong>Bank</strong>’s loans. This position is also responsible for establishing internal loan controls and writtenpolicies and procedures for Board approval, and thereby ensuring the quality of the loanportfolio.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Sanctioning loan proposals falling within his financial powers. Review of controls report of the loan sanctioned by officials below him. Carry out additional assessment of credit proposals to be put up to the CreditCommittee/Board emanating from Credit Department and branches. Put in place appropriate systems relating to credit administration, supervision and followup of advances and ensure conformity with the systems and procedures at branches/credit department in the area of advances. Ensure adequacy and enforceability of loan documents in consultation with <strong>Bank</strong>’sLawyers. Undertake monitoring, follow up and supervision of advances of the <strong>Bank</strong> andscrutinizing reports in respect of irregularities in accounts, review and renewals,inspection of units and documentation. Reporting and obtaining confirmation of the appropriate authority in respect of theirregularities permitted. Putting up control report in respect of advances sanctioned by Managing Director (CreditCommittee). Identifying early warning signals. Watch list advances reporting to the board. Attend consortium meetings. Carrying out inspection of units financed. Keeping track of non-fund based business. Following up rectification of irregularities and disposing of credit portion of the statutoryaudit reports, <strong>Nepal</strong> Rastra <strong>Bank</strong> report and other inspection and audit reports. Putting up status report to Board in respect of advances sanctioned by CreditCommittee. Ensure timely submission of requisite advances returns/ reports to <strong>Nepal</strong> Rastra <strong>Bank</strong>,<strong>SBI</strong> Central Office, Credit Committee and Board relating to credit area. Preparing branch wise an annual action plan for credit (budgetary and other targets) withthe approval of the Managing Director/Board.Page 1 of 2


Develop appropriate strategies for the development of quality business in the credit areain line with credit policy of the bank and <strong>Nepal</strong> Rastra <strong>Bank</strong> guidelines from time to time.Keep fully abreast of the environmental and other changes. Analysis and Review of performances in advances against budgeted levels andimplementation of corrective action. Assess and build credit skills at branches/Credit Department. Visiting branches as a part of the control and monitoring function and for development ofbusiness, interacting with operating staff and customers. Preparing rehabilitation/reschedulement packages for the viable sick units. Monitoring the implementation of the packages approved. Analysis of NPAs and Institution of Recovery Processes. To arrange for the sale of Non <strong>Bank</strong>ing Assets as per rules. Prepare an Annual action plan for NBAs. Examine and put up compromise proposals. Maintenance of a comprehensive Information System for credit portfolio of <strong>Bank</strong>.JOB SPECIFICATIONS:• 10 to 15 years of previous financial institution experience with a minimum of 10 yearsin a leadership role as a comprehensive credit/lending manager with a <strong>Bank</strong>.• Comprehensive banking background in branch management and extensiveexperience in commercial, real estate, construction and consumer lending and loanportfolio management.• Must possess proven business development skills, knowledge of the overallbusiness marketplace• Proven strong financial analysis and loan underwriting skills.• Demonstrated analytical, decision-making, and effective problem solving skills.• Maintain a thorough knowledge of credit services and a complete understanding ofLoan Policy.These are not exhaustive but only some indicative guidelines. The Chief Credit Officer (<strong>CCO</strong>) isexpected to play the role of a Leader/Developer. He is expected to manage and ensure that oursystems are in perfect alignment with our objective of business growth and confirm todirectives/instructions of the central regulatory authorities.Page 2 of 2
