Alright, The Subways are coming to Sziget too. But before
planting yourself in front of the main stage hoping
for some fl esh-to-fl esh with front man Billy Lunn, head
to A38 to see them live in a more intimate environment.
This is the third time the British trio plays Hungary, promoting
their latest album, Money and Celebrity. Produced in
collaboration with fans, the album refl ects on the shortlived
fame and fortune TV can provide for instant celebs, and
also the effects the current economical climate has on
people’s lives. Don’t expect scientifi c analysis or gloomy
forecast though, but sing-along material party anthems
like It’s A Party and We Don’t Need Money to Have a Good
Time. Also, be prepared for full body contact not only with
the sweating and headbanging party animals jumping
around you, but also one or two band members. And as
we heard a fan’s beer was half drunk and half poured all
over himself by singer Billy, you might want to get ready to
offer the band a round.

Have Fun
Explore the Balkan via books, fi lms, food and music,
without leaving soon to be gone Merlin. A short fi lm and
a discussion take you to castles of Banat and Backa, and
give you a taste of how the late earls and counts used to
party around there. Watch out, as when Serbian Gypsy
band Apsolutno Romantično take the stage, you’ll have
a chance to prove you’re not a tad less of a reveler. The
authentic Yu party will make you feel like an extra in a
Kusturica movie, and after dancing till you can dance no
more, there’ll be cevapcici and burek for breakfast.
