Star Wars
in the Concert Hall
One of the evening’s highlight: great pieces of music from
several episodes of Star Wars (next to the main theme, to be
sure). It’s kind of a premiere; a Star Wars suite of this kind is
new to Hungarian concert halls… But the composer, John
Williams’ works will be featured heavily anyway throughout
the evening, including the best parts of the soundtrack
of Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones and E.T. And
that’s not all! The orchestra will devote a whole section to
the scores of fi lms about Olympics; besides the famous
Olympic Fanfare and Theme you’ll get to hear excerpts
from the Chariots of Fire and Children of Glory. Add a bit of
Elton John’s epic Lion King and Moriccone’s classic Once
Upon a Time in the West, and a great night is guaranteed.

Lost in Shadowland
Night. A small house on a small
street. A teenage girl prepares
for bed. She longs for independence,
but to her parents she is
still a little girl. With nowhere for
her thoughts to go but into her
dreams, she falls asleep only to
wake to something lurking behind
her bedroom wall — her
shadow. The wall suddenly starts
to spin, trapping her on the other
side, in Shadowland…

Part shadow act, part dance, part
circus and part concert, Pilobolus
Company’s Shadowland incorporates
multiple moving screens of
different sizes and shapes to create
an evening-length performance that
merges projected images and frontof-screen
choreography. The story
is a surreal experience of a young
girl’s sensational world as she
comes of age. Created in collaboration
with lead writer for the popular
animated series SpongeBob Steven
Banks, Shadowland is a universal
and intimately portrayed experience
that is both intensely dramatic and
comedic.
Shadowland was conceived and
created by Pilobolus after several
years of experimentation of the short
shadow form. The result is a mixture
of Pilobolus’ signature style and innovative
new forays into new media.
