NOTABLE INCIDENTSChild Birth at 421 Valley Road (Continued)Upon arrival, Officer Peterson was met by Mrs. Williford who advised her that herdaughter, Rebecca Williford-Brock, was in labor in the Valley Road apartment’s backbedroom. The expectant mother had felt contractions when she got up that morning ataround 6:30 a.m., but believed them to be “false-labor”.Feeling back pain, she decided to lie down on her bed whenher water broke at about 8:15 a.m., and roughly 10 minuteslater, her 51-year-old mother called for help.Officer Peterson found the expectant mother lying on abed on her back. Knowing birth was imminent; Petersonalready had latex gloves on when she went into the bedroom.Rebecca advised Officer Peterson that she felt like she needed to push. Officer Petersonchecked to make sure the umbilical cord was not wrapped around the infant’s neck, andadvised Rebecca Williford that she could continue to push. Rebecca gave one more pushand the baby was completely delivered. After helping to deliver the child, Peterson clearedthe infant's airway and wrapped her up in towels to keep her warm. She then tended tothe newborn baby girl, later named “Olivia”, until members of the Montclair VolunteerAmbulance Unit and paramedics arrived.The mother and her child were then taken to Mountainside Hospital. Before they weredischarged on Sunday, Dec. 5, <strong>2010</strong>, Peterson and her partner stopped by twice to checkon the mother and her baby girl, who were in good health.IN THE COMMUNITYSanta Gift DeliveryThe Montclair <strong>Police</strong> Benevolent Association PBA Local 53,in cooperation with The North Pole, volunteered to organizethe Montclair <strong>Police</strong> <strong>Department</strong>’s first annual Santa GiftDelivery. During the month of November Sergeant RobertRomito, along with other officers, collected gifts that were laterpersonally delivered by Santa to children throughout Montclair.The caravan of brightly decorated police vehicles made theirway through town spreading holiday cheer as they visited numerous residents.Escorted by the police, Santa delivered all of the gifts on December 15th and 16th. Santaand the officers spent a few moments at each household ensuring that the children couldrelay their Christmas lists to Santa personally. The officers involved received a doublereward for their efforts, as parents who requested Santa to visit their residence wererequired to donate gifts which were later donated to the Montclair Salvation Army.
