Bardoka<br />
Local names: Bardhoka, Barloka<br />
The Bardhoka sheep is a triple purpose sheep, milk-meat-wool. However,<br />
through natural <strong>and</strong> selective breeding this sheep became one <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> most yielding strains <strong>of</strong> Pramenka breed. The average ewe lactation<br />
is over 200 kg milk per 270 days <strong>of</strong> lactation length, with about 6.0 %<br />
fat content. Its body weight is considered to be medium, female’s individual averages 40 <strong>and</strong><br />
male’s 50 kg, respectively. The height at wi<strong>the</strong>r is 64.cm. The lamming is low, about 120%. The<br />
average body weight <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lambs at birth is 2.5 - 3 kg, <strong>and</strong> at weaning (after three months, approximately)<br />
<strong>the</strong>y reach <strong>the</strong> live body weight <strong>of</strong> 20-22 kg. The grease fleece weight <strong>for</strong> females<br />
<strong>and</strong> males averages 2-2.5 kg <strong>and</strong> 2.5 – 3.5 kg, respectively. The males are horned <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> females<br />
are polled, usually.<br />
Bardhoka sheep is well suited to a grazing production system, calm, easily milked <strong>and</strong> easy to<br />
work with.<br />
