Coronary artery
round and open
Why we suffer heart attacks
but not nose attacks!
Heart attacks occur due to the confluence of two factors:
1. Weakening of the artery walls: cellular nutrient deficiencies
– particularly of vitamin C – lead to weakened arteries.
2. Mechanical stress: every day the heart contracts more than
100,000 times, pumping up to 10,000 litres of blood through
the body. This continual pumping function means that the
coronary arteries are the hardest-working part of the entire
circulatory system.
Imagine treading on a garden
hose 100,000 times a day.
Whether the hose starts
leaking depends on how
elastic it is.
It is just the same with your
heart’s coronary arteries:
The pressure exerted by the
heartbeat cannot be avoided.
But you can ensure that your
artery walls stay elastic.
