2 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONSWIRING REPAIR KIT<strong>MSD</strong> offers a special kit consisting of connectors used with the <strong>Pro</strong> <strong>Mag</strong> <strong>44</strong>. The kit, PN8124, is designed for field repairs and it is re<strong>com</strong>mended to have <strong>MSD</strong> repair any majorwiring problems for a <strong>com</strong>plete repair.STARTINGThe <strong>Pro</strong> <strong>Mag</strong> <strong>44</strong> requires about 250 rpm to fire during cranking.Block Mounted Starters: On engines equipped with block mounted starters, a 16 voltbattery is re<strong>com</strong>mended. If the engine is equipped with a blower, it is required to have atleast 16 volts.Removable Blower Pulley Starters: It is re<strong>com</strong>mended to have a 48 volt starter systemwhen cranking the engine by the blower pulley. On these applications, a removable jumperwire is connected across the coil terminals creating a short. Once the engine reaches therequired starting rpm, this jumper should be quickly pulled from the terminals.Warning: Never touch the coil terminals with the engine running.ACCESSORIESKILL SWITCHIt is mandatory to have an ignition kill switch on all race cars in NHRA and IHRA. <strong>MSD</strong> offersan Air Operated Kill Switch, PN 8101, for the <strong>Pro</strong> <strong>Mag</strong> <strong>44</strong>. This switch is re<strong>com</strong>mended foruse with the <strong>44</strong> Amp <strong>Pro</strong> <strong>Mag</strong>.
