<strong>Stanley</strong> Teacher Preparation Program<strong>Application</strong> Procedures**(updated 9/1/12) based on revised CDE requirementsWhat do I need to know about applying?There are three separate applications, sent to three separate institutions, that must becompleted:1. Colorado Department of Education application for “One-year AlternativeLicense”/Statement of Eligibility (SOE)2. <strong>Stanley</strong> Teacher Preparation Program application3. University of Colorado Denver application for master’s program*(*A specialized application will be given to you from our UCD liaison.You do not need to apply to UCD at this time.)Colorado Department of Education Alternative Licensing <strong>Process</strong>—Please begin assoon as possible!**Licensure through the <strong>Stanley</strong> Teacher Preparation Program is dependent on receivinga Statement of Eligibility (SOE). Candidates must have been issued their SOE from theColorado Department of Education (CDE) by March 1, 2013 in order to be offered acontract for the 2013-14 academic year.The following content requirements must be met for approval of your Statement ofEligibility:For Elementary Education:• Completed application and fingerprints (items #1 and #2 below)• Passing score on required content exam (PLACE or Praxis II— see informationbelow, #3)For ECE:• Completed application and fingerprints (items #1 and #2 below)• Passing score on required content exam (PLACE— see information below, #3)OR• Transcript review: Completed 24 hours of coursework content area in specificareas required (with a GPA of at least 2.6) (see information below, #4)Colorado Department of Education: One-Year Alternative License/SOE <strong>Application</strong>1. Visit the Colorado Department of Education website for important informationabout Alternative Licensure. The state requires this one-year license to work in theAlternative Licensure Program. 3. Sign up for the PLACE or Praxis II exam.What is the difference between the PLACE exam and the PRAXIS II exam?Both are content area assessment tests. PLACE was designed and developed forColorado. Praxis II is a nationwide test. <strong>Stanley</strong> Teacher Preparation Program <strong>Application</strong>You do NOT need to wait for the CDE or your PLACE or Praxis test results to apply to the<strong>Stanley</strong> Teacher Preparation Program. Results from the CDE and testing facilities may takeup to 10-12 weeks. Payment by credit/debit card only. Include a copy of your receipt with yourapplication (downloaded at the time you pay your evaluation fee). You will be requiredto pay an additional $40 when you apply for your Alternative License.4. _____ For Elementary Education licensure: passing score on either the PLACEtest (Elementary Education test #01) or Praxis II test (Elementary Education #0014); forEarly Childhood Education licensure: passing score on PLACE test (Early ChildhoodEducation (test #02) or complete transcript review with the CDE.
