UNIFIED REPORT OF OPERATIONSREPORTING PACKAGEURO GENERAL INSTRUCTIONSThe League is required by the Board of Governors to obtain financial and other relatedinformation from member Clubs to <strong>com</strong>pile the annual Unified <strong>Report</strong> of Operations("URO").The objectives of the URO are to 1) reflect the financial performance of the League on auniform <strong>com</strong>bined basis, 2) provide Clubs with information on League averages andstatistics, and allow individual Teams to rank their particular performance relative toleague-wide performance, and 3) provide the League with information to enable it toassess the financial performance of individual Clubs. In order to achieve theseobjectives, each Team must present the information precisely as required in theseInstructions. Failure to <strong>com</strong>ply with the instructions, such as partially filling out sections,or <strong>com</strong>bining of information where not appropriate, severely limits the usefulness of theURO as a management tool to both the League and your Club.We recognize the work that will be required to <strong>com</strong>plete the URO reporting package and,we along with your partner Clubs, very much appreciate your efforts and cooperation infully <strong>com</strong>pleting the package and furnishing this information to the League.REPORTING REQUIREMENTSAccounting Principles -It is not required that any Club change its present chart of accounts and/oraccounting principles. However, for <strong>com</strong>parative reasons and consistency, it ismandatory that Clubs use the accounting principles described herein whenpreparing the URO. It is highly re<strong>com</strong>mended that to the extent possible a Club usethe same accounting principles for financial statement purposes and URO purposesto simplify its preparation and minimize the costs.Period Covering -If your Club’s fiscal year end includes the entire 2002-03 playing season, you mustuse your annual financial statements to prepare the URO. If it does not, you must<strong>com</strong>plete the package by <strong>com</strong>piling the results of a 12-month period, which includesthe entire playing season. Supporting schedules reconciling your Club’srevenues and operating in<strong>com</strong>e/(loss) to the URO must be provided. Allinformation must be submitted on an accrual basis and follow Generally AcceptedAccounting Principles (GAAP).Currency -Canadian Clubs should report all amounts in thousands of CAD dollars and U.S.Clubs in thousands of U.S. dollars.URO Instructions – September 2003 312/18/2003 10:50 AM
