The trolleys which are used to collect hospital waste should be designed <strong>in</strong> such a<br />

way that <strong>the</strong>re should be no leakage or spillage of bio-medical waste while<br />

transport<strong>in</strong>g to designated site.<br />

5.1 Type of conta<strong>in</strong>er and colour for collection of Bio-medical waste:<br />

7. Solid Waste( Plastic) plastic Bag Blue/White<br />

• Those plastics bags which conta<strong>in</strong> liquid like blood, ur<strong>in</strong>e, pus, etc., should be put<br />

<strong>in</strong>to red colour bag for microwav<strong>in</strong>g and autoclav<strong>in</strong>g and o<strong>the</strong>r items should be<br />

put <strong>in</strong>to blue or white bag after chemical treatment and mutilation/shredd<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

5.2 All <strong>the</strong> items sent to <strong>in</strong>c<strong>in</strong>erator/deep burial (Cat. 1, 2, 3, 6) should be<br />

placed <strong>in</strong> Yellow coloured bags.<br />

5.3 All <strong>the</strong> Bio-medical waste to be sent for Microwave/Autoclave treatment<br />

should be placed <strong>in</strong> Red coloured bags. (Cat. 3, 6 & &)<br />

5.4 Any waste which is sent to shredder after<br />

Autoclav<strong>in</strong>g/Microwav<strong>in</strong>g/Chemical treatment is to be packed <strong>in</strong> Blue/White<br />

translucent bag.<br />
