Sample size• The target group (the economicallyactive population)included bothemployed and unemployed blind andpartially sighted;• in total a group of 445 persons• 303employed• 142 unemployed• All regions of the Slovac republic wereinvolved in the survey
Methodology• The decisive criterion for involving a personinto the preferencial group was theaccessibility of the person with a visualhandicap and their readiness to cooperateon the study• The period of data collection was February2006• The collection of data was realised through„face to face“individual interviews
How were the datacollected?Collection of the data was realised in 2 ways:• The working respondents were contacted byinterwiewers who used the contacts given tothem by the UNSS. The regional UNSS wereof big help in mediatings between theinterviewers and the potential respondents.• The collection of data from the unemployedgroup was provided by the Labour Officewho contacted all unemployed blind andpartially sighted they had in evidence
How were the datacollected?The interviewers who collected data from boththe working and unemployed group wereprovided with detailed operating instructions• they were in the possession of a glossarycontaining the key words used in an interview• and also had a letter of recommendation
