The newlocation is satisfactory; proper electrical wiring has been done; and there is adequate ventilationand storage space for storing and packing vaccines.6.1.3. PHC site assessmentAt many PHCs, the equipment is stored in damp and ill-ventilated rooms. The normal practiceis to close all windows and lock the door at the end of duty hours. Often the surroundingsare not clean. Access to some PHCs is jeopardized by bad roads. The assessment team encountereddifficulties in spite of 4-wheel vehicles. But the PHC staff mainly go on foot fordoor to door vaccination, use 2-wheelers or infrequent and congested public transport. InWest Singhbhum there is railway line running two trains per day connecting 2 PHCs.Theteam encountered vaccinators providing OPV on these trains; but it is not evident that healthservice staff use train service on regular basis.17
