PReSeNtAtioNMaking its products available to every woman wherever her country andwhatever her socioeconomic status has always been in the “genes” of<strong>HRA</strong> <strong>Pharma</strong>. eDUCAtioNLyCée SAiNte MARieyAGMA (BURKiNA FASo)A new secondary schoolThe problem in this countryis the high rate of unschooledchildren.The project is to build a newsecondary school in an underprivilegedsuburb of Ouagadougou.The aim is to improve the qualityof teaching by training teachersand insisting on the importanceof schooling for the future of thecountry.ASSoCiAtioN D’AiDeà L’eNFANCeCAMBoDGieNNe (AeC)LAtAStetraining youngwomen in tourismThere is gender inequality inCambodia especially in educationalachievement.The association, founded in 1998in the north, targets poor youngwomen who are primarily fromrural areas.It’ purpose is to train these youngwomen to find employment in afield such as tourism, and therebyensuring then a stable livelihood.The funding will support theeducation of three women forone year, or potentially two yearshotel or hotel managementschool.HeLP CeNtReS FoR tHeSeNSoRy DiSABLeD(ivoRy CoASt)For the last three years, ThinkAfrica has developed HelpCentres for the Sensory Disabledin the western part of Africa.The Centres have been developedspecifically for womenwith handicaps since handicappedindividuals typically experiencesocial integration difficulties.The aim of the project is todetect sensory disorders, toeducate disabled women to findemployment and to inform andcreate public awareness aboutdisability and thus enableharmonious communities of theable and disabled.« livingtogether ».


BeHRHoRSt PARtNeRSFoR DeveLoPMeNt(BPD), iN GUAteMALA,eDUCAtioNThe project’s purpose is toexpand the participation of thewomen and young people inSaquiyà, a small village inGuatemala. Community leadersand other participants willpartake in discussions concerningthe following subjects: genderroles, rights and obligations ofwomen and young people, sexualand reproductive health, sexualviolence and harassment.A training curriculum addressingkey themes of empowermentand leadership is being developedto strengthen the capacityof the targeted population toparticipate in activities related toaspects of community developmentsuch as water and sanitation,and food production).Another aim is to increase theuse of family planning methodsamong women by providingtraining to teachers and studentsin the upper grades of localschools.


RePRoDUCtive HeALtHADvoCACyirelandThese two projects are fromIreland where a culture of silencehas created a legal barrierto basic reproductive rights.Painted Bird Production“the story of Bridie Kirk”In 1939, Bridie Kirk dies ofpoisoning after taking pills toinduce an abortion.In 2012, Savita Halappanavardies due to an infection in ahospital after a delayed abortion.Times have not changed.A play produced by Painted BirdProduction in Cork City,« The story of Bridie Kirk » is astarting point for a discussion towiden awareness on this issue.The creative team is composed of10 professionals. After its openingin Cork City there will be anational and international tour.


ARt oF CHoiCeviDeo “No MoReSHAMe”The aim of this online videoproject called « No more shame» is a change in the law bybringing forward personalnarratives of a variety of anonymouswomen who have had anabortion in Ireland.Guest readers, women activistsand artists, will be filmed narratingthese women’s tragicexperiences. The women comefrom a variety of backgroundswhich will highlight thenuances of the abortionexperience .The videos will be launched ona « No more shame » Youtubechannel. They will beembedded and distributed withina wider network of Irish andinternational feministprochoice and related onlinesocial networks.Once this project is launched, itwill invite the public to join theeffort and post their personalstories and videos. RePRoDUCtive HeALtHALteRNAtiveCAMeRoUNProject on lineHomosexuality is punished bylaw in Cameroun. This prohibitioncreates greater risks of contractingIST and HIV.The aim of this project is to setup a support system targetingthis population using webtechnology.There will be a call phone numberwhere trained counselors willrespond to questions and needs.A web site will be created toinform this population about theprevention of sexually transmitteddiseases and related risks.Journalists will be made awareof about the specific sexual healthneeds of the male homosexualpopulation.ANGeL FoSteR(ottAWA UNiveRSity)Survey on womenserving in the US PeacecorpsIn 1973, the US Supreme Courtlegalized abortion. However aseries of restrictions were implementedat the federal level. The« Hyde Amendment » prohibitesthe use of federal Medicaid fundsfor abortion except when the lifeof the woman is endangered orwhen the pregnancy is a result ofrape and incest.Following this decision, a series ofpolicies were enacted that havebanned publicfunding of abortionservices for women who dependon the federal government fortheir health care such as womenserving in the US Peace Corps.The purpose of the project is toevaluate their opinion, perceptionand experiences obtainingreproductive services and healthcare. Consequently, the projectwill function as an advocacy tool.The conclusion drawn from thisstudy will hopefully overturn thisgrossly unfair restriction.


RePRoDUCtive HeALtHiNFoRMAtioN/eDUCAtioNAssociation Française pourla Contraception (AFC)MoviesThe aim of this project is tofight preconceptions concerningcontraception for the young.It targets the young from the ageof 15 to 25 but also the previousgeneration’s, purveyors of theseideas.The message is conveyed bya series of short films with ahumorous tone to be broadcastedon the social network (i.e.Facebook, YouTube, MySpace).To underline the relevancy of ourintention the targeted populationwill collaborate in the conceptionof these movies.Few examples of common preconceptions:The contraceptivepill is bad for your health and canmake you sterile. It gives cancer,makes you put on weight, etc...Sexplanation(england)educative exhibitionThe mission of Sexplanation is tobe an innovative travelling exhibitionthat educates young peopleaged 16 to 25 years aboutreproductive and sexual healththrough an interactive, arts-basedpop-up exhibit and educationalcurriculum in London and itssurroundings.One aim of this project is toprovide - especially for youngwomen - tools of empowermentthat will help them to developself-esteem and self-confidencewhen taking care of theirreproductive and sexual health.AccessibilityCollaboration à la santépublique du BurkinaFamily planning program inBurkina FasoThe great need for long actingcontraceptive methods in BurkinaFaso is dramatic. The aim of thisproject is to inform womenof the possibility to insert animplant as a long acting and efficientcontraception and to organizeand perform the insertion.This program started in 2009in the north of the country bythe training of a midwife. Theproject is to extend this programto other parts of the country bytraining a second midwife.


Dessine l’espoir (Make a DesigningHope) - National campaign for theprevention of Hiv/ AiDS in ZimbabweThe aim of the project is to raise awarenessin a country where the ravage of AIDS isrampant by distributing free condoms byZNFPC (Zimbabwean National FamilyPlanning Council), repackaged in individualwrappers containing preventive messagestranslated into the local languages in attractivelyredesigned boxes.


ARtSNyABA LeoN oUeDRoGo(BURKiNA FASo)Les mangeuses d’âme(Women soul eaters)The artist’s project is twofold:Firstly, a movie fictionalizing aceremony which occurs in manycountries of Africa: a woman isaccused of being the cause ofsomeone’s death leading to herexclusion from the community.The movie will be shown as aeducational tool to illustrate theinjustice of this tradition.Secondly, the liberating value ofphotos taken by the artistportrays the women whowere actually ostracized« disguised » to give thema different personality fromtheir real ones in order tohelp them regain theirself-esteem.


GLoBAL ACCeSS PRoGRAM...By working with private companies,NGOs, non-profit organization<strong>HRA</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> is activelyinvolved in programs aimed toachieve MDG 5.<strong>HRA</strong> foundation is either participatingin existing structures oracting as a program coordinator.The idea is to enable the variousstakeholders to partner onprograms using their corecompetencies and expertise.GLoBAL ACCeSSPRoGRAMS<strong>HRA</strong> <strong>Pharma</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> providessupport to private sectorto contract with internationalorganization for the supplyof drugs at social prices withthe guarantee that companiesinvolved will work according toUnited Nations Global CompactPrinciples.In <strong>2013</strong>, <strong>HRA</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong>coordinated the supply of nearly700,000 units of emergencycontraception pills at social priceto international organization(i.e. UNFPA, JSI, MEG).Emergency contraceptives pillswere directly delivered to thelocal missions or through thesupply of emergency kit to besent when crisis strikes and familyplanning services are needed.Long Acting ReversibleContraception (LARC)Program Access.The objective of the programis to increase the availability ofhigh quality intra uterine devices(IUDs) in developing countries.To do so, <strong>HRA</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> acted asa project coordinator on programs.So far, IUDs have been deliveredin Bangladesh, Burkina Faso,Cameroon, Gabon, Egypt, India,Indonesia, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan,Morocco, Nepal, Pakistan, Syria,Vietnam. We aim to donate30,000 IUDs within a three years’time period.

AND otHeR ACtivitieSotHeR ACtivitieS<strong>HRA</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> actively participatesin initiatives to speed thedecline of preventable deaths ofgirls and women in low-resourceand emerging countries toachieve Millennium DevelopmentGoal 5.To do so, the <strong>Foundation</strong> participatesin meetings, forums,seeking solutions to expandaccess to much-needed, effective,high-quality life-saving reproductivetechnologies and creatinginnovative projects and advocacycampaigns through public-privatepartnerships.C-exchangeUnder the leadership of WomenDeliver1, the C-Exchange2 is aprivate sector forum that aimsto inform, engage and supportmembers in their efforts toimprove the health and wellbeingof girls and women. Themain mission is to contribute tothe achievement of MillenniumDevelopment Goal 5 (reducingmaternal mortality and achievingaccess to universal reproductivehealth).C-Exchange members are aselect group of companies thatshares a proven track record ofinvesting in programs and activitiesthat have a direct positiveimpact for girls and women.Comprised of corporations thatplay a key role in the movementsto improve the lives of women,the C-Exchange provides both aforum for exchange and a nexusfor private-private sector andpublic-private sector collaboration.In <strong>2013</strong>, <strong>HRA</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong>participated to the 3rd WomenDeliver conference in KualaLumpur from May 28 – 30, <strong>2013</strong>.This conference was one ofthe largest gatherings of policymakers, advocates and researchersfocused exclusively onwomen’s health and empowermentto date, bringing togetherover 4,500 participants from149 countries in Kuala Lumpurfrom May 28 – 30, <strong>2013</strong>. Theconference featured a widerange of speakers, topics andevents related to the health andwell-being of girls and womenwith a particular look to thefuture of the developmentframework.More than 1,000 participantswere sponsored to attend theconference, which featured61 donors and sponsors and119 exhibiting organizationsfrom government, companies,and civil society.More than 800 speeches andpresentations were given at thesix plenaries and 120 breakoutsessions.1.
