Stop Rebuilding & Replacing Your PumpsStop rebuilding, replacing, and spending your valuable time on otherPD pumps. Fristam’s FKL pump simply runs better and lasts longer.Engineered for lasting performance, its large diameter shaft is strongerthan others. The FKL’s shaft and unique balanced rotor design reducerotor-to-housing contact that can prematurely wear your pump. The FKL is the first close-clearance PD pump to be designed for “TrueCIP.” Fristam’s FKL needs nothing removed from the pump for CIP. Thecover and rotors remain in place. This provides a simple and effectivesolution with minimal downtime and no performance loss. The FKL’s port-to-port dimensions can be customized for easyreplacement of other PD pumps, so make the change.3

Reliability Begins on the InsideThe Fristam FKL features heavy-duty construction from thefront cover through the pump and gearbox.Bearing-supported Gearspage 10Large Bearingspage 10FKL SERIESwww.fristam.com/fkl4

Stronger ShaftThe diameter of a Fristam FKL shaft is up to 25% largerthan other manufacturers’ shafts. It’s made from a solid pieceof 316L stainless steel and has a shorter overhung load towithstand elevated pressures without breaking. The FKL’s stronger shaft reduces rotor-to-housing contact. This “deflection” in other pump shafts causes premature wearfor shafts, rotors, and housing. With a Fristam, you won’t needto replace or rebuild pumps nearly as often.FKL SERIESwww.fristam.com/fkl6

“In all my years, I’ve neverseen an FKL shaft break.”– 35-year processing industry expert7

Balanced RotorsFristam FKL rotors are balanced, meaning the support hub iscentered so that force acts through the center of the rotor to keepthe lobes from distorting. Other pumps’ unbalanced rotors do notdistribute force evenly. At higher pressures, unbalanced rotors canbend at their tips (deflection), further damaging the pump.deflectionRotor contact pointcausing damage torotor and housingFKL BalancedRotorUnbalancedRotorFKL SERIESwww.fristam.com/fkl8

“There is no doubt the FKL is stout.”– Consumer and industrial chemical manufacturer9

The Gearbox – The Business EndLow Maintenance LubricationThe FKL uses petroleum or food grade oil instead of grease to lubricate its gears. With this design, the oil lasts eight times longer than grease and only needs to bechanged once every 4,000 hours. Using oil avoids the need for grease change-outand eliminates grease-related contaminant build-up that reduces bearing life.Bearing-Supported GearsFristam gears are located between the frontand rear bearings for even load distributionand less shaft deflection. FKL gears arestraight-cut for easy timing.Large BearingsThe FKL uses large double taperedbearings for longer bearing life, meaning less maintenance. Quitesimply, larger means stronger, andstronger lasts longer.FKL SERIESwww.fristam.com/fkl10

The Gearbox – Revolutionary DesignThe Fristam FKL’s revolutionary split-style gearbox provides quick and easyaccess to bearings and shafts (available on models 15–250).Using simple forcing studs, the gearbox halves can beseparated in less than oneminute.Once separated, only a few boltsneed to be loosened; then, theentire shaft, gears, and bearingsassembly can be removed asone complete set.Reassembly is just as simple, and there is no need for anarbor press to reinstall the shaftassembly into the gearbox or tojoin the two gearbox halves.Smart engineering and design, through and through.“It’s built like a tank!”– Salad dressing and sauce producer11

True CIP – No Disassembly RequiredThe FKL is the first close-clearance PD pump to be designed for true CIP.No Rotor RemovalFristam’s FKL needs nothing removed from the pump for CIP. The coverand rotors remain in place. This provides a simple and effective solutionwith minimal downtime. No Performance LossOther manufacturers have retrofitted their designs to accommodate CIPby increasing the internal slip path. This “shortcut” significantly reducesefficiency. The FKL cleans in place without losing any performance.FKL SERIESwww.fristam.com/fkl12

Easy MaintenanceClean ExteriorA rounded exterior provides a sleek look andmaximum cleanability. An ultra-clean stainless steelgearbox is optional for difficult environments.Seamless Seal ChangeoverFKL seals are completely contained within acartridge. They can be pre-assembled and shelvedfor easy, one-piece replacement.Additionally, no housing or pump modification isneeded to change the Fristam FKL from a singleseal to a double seal or from an O-ring seal to amechanical seal.Offset Rotor BoltsTraditional rotor nuts can back-off when pumpingviscous products. Once loose, they can severelydamage pumps. The FKL is equipped with offsetrotor bolts that lessen the unwinding force of theproduct. As it rotates eccentrically, the bolt provides naturalagitation to promote cleanability in the cavity.Extended Housing StudsThe long housing studs guide the housing pastthe shaft during assembly and disassembly. Thisprotects against housing-to-shaft contact to preventaccidental seal and shaft damage.“It has proved to clean perfectly anddrastically reduce our maintenancecosts and downtime.”– Egg product processor13

The Fristam ChallengeGive us your most difficult, challengingapplication. You know the one that keepsyou up at night wondering if you’ll getcalled in to keep production flowing at 2 a.m.With Fristam, you can sleep like a rock.Performance GuaranteeOur application engineers will work withyou to specify the best model and optionsto tackle your tough application. Then, weguarantee that the FKL will perform to yourexpectations. If not, return the pump. It’sthat simple.19

Stronger ShaftA Fristam FKL shaft is up to 25% thicker thanother shafts and has a shorter overhung load. It’smade from a solid piece of 316L stainless steel, not stainless spin-welded to iron. FKL shafts canwithstand elevated pressures without breaking.CentrifugalPositiveThe FKL’s stronger shaft reduces rotor-to-housingcontact. This “deflection” in other pumps shaftscauses premature Displacementwear for shafts, rotors, andhousing.
