Rotieswere distributed to mothers of thechildren and clothes to newly bornchildren.participated in severalprogrammes this year. WESTSantoshnagar, Hyderabad: Branch organized a programmeat Saraswathi Shishu Mandir,Madanapet, Saidabad,Hyderabad on 5/07/08. Thebranch provided school uniformsfor 30 students which wassponsored by Shri Lakshmipathy,Mathematics Lecturer, ChaitanyaJunior Kalasala, Shri K. SureshBabu Scientist, RCI, andRadhakishan Rao, Village officer,Maheswaram Tehsil.Programme started withjyotiprajwalana by Shri K.Damodar Reddy, Vice Presidentof the sishu mandir. Shri SrinivasRao President presided over themeeting. Slokas and bhajanswere rendered by the students.President gave key note address.Shri K.S.N. SriM.G.Chandrasekhar presidedover the meeting.Badrayan, Bangalore :Branch organized quizcompetition on June 7th, worldenviroment day, at Athmashreeschool. 45 children from 9schools took part in thecompetition. There was a talk onpollution control by Shri T.Mahesh, General Manger,Environment ManagementInstitution, Bangalore. ShriLokesh lecturer from AthmashreePU college gave the presidentialspeech. Shri R. Branchcelebrated Vishwa ParyavaranDiwas on 5/06/2008 propagatinga slogan "Pu Sa Thai"- i.e. PuraniSaree Ki Thaily (ban polythenebags, use cloth bags). The venuewas 1st gate vegetable marketcorner with corporator ShriPandhari Parab as the Chiefguest. 230 persons attended thefunction.Belgaum branch arrangedfelicitations of worthy citizens andmeritorious students scoringhighest marks at S.S.L.C. exam07-08 in Belgaum and inductionof new members on 8/6/08. Thevenue was Prin K.D. PhadoisHall, Chitnis school and the chiefguest was Prin Shri J.G. He deliveredhis talk on 'Rashtra ki Suraksaaur Hamara Kartavya'.1st meeting of executivebody was held on 12 May at theresidence of Dr. M.S. Shekhawat,President of the branch. Generalbody meeting of the branch washeld on 23rd May 2008. The chiefguest and speaker was Dr. L.L.Sharma, a senior scientist,College of Fisheries andLimnology and he spoke on thetopic "People awareness for thesafe environment". He specificallymentioned about the ill effects ofgreen house gases and how weresources are very important inthe present scenario and we haveto conserve these for future.Another general bodymeeting was held on 28th Juneat Mansi cafe. The chief guest andspeaker of the meeting was Dr.S.S. Lodha Chairman, Faculty ofManagement, SouthernConnecticut State University,USA. He delivered his talk on themajor issues and problems ofIndia and the role of people. Hespecifically raised the issues ofilliteracy, corruption, poverty etc.in India. On the same day thebirth day of Dr. Suraj Parkashwasa celebrated by a lecturedelivered by Smt. SantoshGodha.AVADH-GORAKSHLucknow Poorvi :Following activities were undertaken by the branch. On theoccasion of bara mangal, from 27/05/08 to 17/06/08 on eachTuesday the members of thebranch gave the Sharbat and coldwater to the passersby on thecrossing of Ram Manohar Lohiapark from 9am to 5 pm. The ladymembers were presentthroughout the day. To paytributes to departed members andtheir relatives during the year aBhajan Sandhya was organizedon 12/07/08 at ValmikiRangshala, Gomti NagarLucknow. The members offeredflowers on their photographs.heart touching bhajans alongwithShri U.K. Tripathi and other groupmembers. Brig. T.B. It was further extendedover a fortnight and on 24.07.08the celebration was concluded bya rapid plantation workspearheaded by the Chairman ofBerhampur DevelopmentAuthority Sri Sarat RanjanPatnaik. The tree guards wereprovided by B.D.A. and assurancewas given by the chairman toaccord all possible help toagument this type of noble workof the Parishad in the days tocome.Bicholim : Branchorganised a talk in co ordinationwith Vidhya Vikas Mission atShri Kultar Singh, theRotary house Bicholim whereincan reduce its effects.
