Katherine A. DunleavyPresident and CEOMary Black FoundationKatherine A. Dunleavy is thepresident and CEO <strong>of</strong> the MaryBlack Foundation, a health legacyfoundation whose funds target thehealth and wellness <strong>of</strong> the citizens<strong>of</strong> Spartanburg County. The MaryBlack Foundation has two majorfocus areas: active living andhealthy eating and early childhooddevelopment.Ms. Dunleavy received a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science inbusiness administration from the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong>Florida. She began her career at First Federal/BB&Twhere she rose from mortgage loan <strong>of</strong>ficer to seniorvice president <strong>of</strong> retail banking. Following herbanking career, Ms. Dunleavy spent a year as executivedirector <strong>of</strong> the Walker Foundation for the <strong>South</strong><strong>Carolina</strong> School for the Deaf and the Blind beforebecoming CEO <strong>of</strong> United Way <strong>of</strong> the Piedmont.Ms. Dunleavy serves on the boards <strong>of</strong> numerousinstitutions and organizations, including SpartanburgRegional Healthcare System, <strong>Carolina</strong> CountryClub, Converse College Board <strong>of</strong> Visitors and theBB&T Advisory Board. In addition, she served onthe Spartanburg County Commission for HigherEducation for USC <strong>Upstate</strong> and is a former member <strong>of</strong>the Rotary Club <strong>of</strong> Spartanburg. She has participatedin both Leadership Spartanburg and Leadership<strong>South</strong> <strong>Carolina</strong>.Ms. Dunleavy has received numerous awards overthe years, including the Neville HolcombeDistinguished Citizenship Award from theSpartanburg Area Chamber <strong>of</strong> Commerce, the <strong>South</strong><strong>Carolina</strong> Woman <strong>of</strong> Accomplishment Award fromthe Spartanburg Business & Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Women’sClub, the Al Willis Award from the SpartanburgDevelopment Association, the Order <strong>of</strong> the Palmettopresented by Governor Nikki Haley, the MaryMildred Sullivan Award from Converse College andHumanitarian <strong>of</strong> the Year from the Urban League <strong>of</strong>the <strong>Upstate</strong>.6
