Katherine A. DunleavyPresident and CEOMary Black FoundationKatherine A. Dunleavy is thepresident and CEO of the MaryBlack Foundation, a health legacyfoundation whose funds target thehealth and wellness of the citizensof Spartanburg County. The MaryBlack Foundation has two majorfocus areas: active living andhealthy eating and early childhooddevelopment.Ms. Dunleavy received a Bachelor of Science inbusiness administration from the University ofFlorida. She began her career at First Federal/BB&Twhere she rose from mortgage loan officer to seniorvice president of retail banking. Following herbanking career, Ms. Dunleavy spent a year as executivedirector of the Walker Foundation for the SouthCarolina School for the Deaf and the Blind beforebecoming CEO of United Way of the Piedmont.Ms. Dunleavy serves on the boards of numerousinstitutions and organizations, including SpartanburgRegional Healthcare System, Carolina CountryClub, Converse College Board of Visitors and theBB&T Advisory Board. In addition, she served onthe Spartanburg County Commission for HigherEducation for USC Upstate and is a former member ofthe Rotary Club of Spartanburg. She has participatedin both Leadership Spartanburg and LeadershipSouth Carolina.Ms. Dunleavy has received numerous awards overthe years, including the Neville HolcombeDistinguished Citizenship Award from theSpartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce, the SouthCarolina Woman of Accomplishment Award fromthe Spartanburg Business & Professional Women’sClub, the Al Willis Award from the SpartanburgDevelopment Association, the Order of the Palmettopresented by Governor Nikki Haley, the MaryMildred Sullivan Award from Converse College andHumanitarian of the Year from the Urban League ofthe Upstate.6
