It’s never too lateto be punctual!Does your family start the day with repeated ordersand pleading to various members to get up, getdressed, have their breakfast etc etc?Some children are always late ‐ to school, to classes,with assignments ‐ and the chaos of their lives hasan effect on their ability to learn.Effective time management leads to greatercontentment. Being late is a way of life for manypeople. But good timekeeping can be learnt.One unpunctual member of the family can raise thestress levels for everyone.Be in control!How can you change thesehabits? Set their alarms, establish routines like who isfirst to breaky. Create ‘To Do’ lists and learn to enjoy ticking offeach task as they get it done. Regard lack of punctuality as a lack of manners. Reduce distractions. Turn off your TV in themorning. If necessary, set your watch and your clocks 5minutes early. Think about other people and how they feelhaving to wait for you. Plan your assignments with progress dates soyou easily meet the deadline. Aim to hand in work the day before it is due. Limit the amount of time you spend on surfingthe net and playing games.To feel more in control of your time, take note ofwhen you are late and by how much. JUNIOR COLLEGE NewsThe Year One's had a second visit from the local fire fighters.They showed us their truck and equipment. They have toolsfor pulling down doors and cutting open cars. We were ableto have a look inside their truck. We even got to have a go atholding the hose and pulling the trigger for the water.We're all inspired now to become Firefighters!A record number of students celebrated achieving StarAward status this week at the College. These students were“stars” for the month of April. The “star” students for Maywill be announced very soon.Every second Thursday, both Prep classes take part in ourcooking program. This term the children have made Pizzascrolls, Traffic light biscuits and Anzac biscuits.The children thoroughly love our cooking sessions.The children celebrated by designing their own ice‐creamsundae. After two scoops of ice‐cream the children couldadd jelly, Tim Tam, topping, marshmallows or a penguinlolly. The Year Five’s ate through 3 scoops of ice‐cream.What a celebration!‐ it looks likewe havesomebuddingchefs in themaking!Enrolments for Prep 2011 are filling up fast!Don’t leave it too late, numbers are limited.JuniorCollegeNews3Building futures ....
