<strong>Associate</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong>PROGRAM GOALSTo provide a general foundation <strong>of</strong>an associate <strong>of</strong> arts studies as theprecursor for a declared four-yeardegree.PROGRAM OUTCOMESTo successfully complete the<strong>Associate</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> program witha “C” average or higher as afoundation to transfer to a fouryearbaccalaureate institution.ABOUT THE PROGRAMThe District <strong>of</strong>fers a two-yearcourse <strong>of</strong> study leading to the<strong>Associate</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> degree. Thisdegree is designed for studentswho plan to complete their firsttwo years <strong>of</strong> college at <strong>Wayne</strong><strong>County</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>District and transfer to abaccalaureate degree grantinginstitution. Programs leading tothe A.A. degree are designed forstudents who plan to major insuch areas as performing arts,English, humanities or the socialsciences. Degree Requirements• The <strong>Associate</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> degree consists <strong>of</strong> aminimum <strong>of</strong> sixty (60) semester hours <strong>of</strong>credit, <strong>of</strong> which fifteen (15), must be earnedat WCCCD.• Thirty-five (35) credit hours are used tosatisfy the general education and academicgroup requirements.• Twenty-five (25) credit hours are needed tosatisfy the elective requirements.• Consult a transfer coordinator at the campusfor course requirement advising.Students are required to complete:A total <strong>of</strong> twenty-five (25) elective credit hours,including a minimum <strong>of</strong> three (3) courses in one<strong>of</strong> the following areas <strong>of</strong> concentration:• Humanities• English• Speech• Social Science• African-American Studies• Anthropology• Economics• Sociology• Life and Physical Science• Mathematics• Human and <strong>Community</strong> Development• Philosophy• Psychology<strong>Associate</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> (A.A.)
