A suitable DPM must be provided, positioned either above or below the Jabcore Classic, or above the concrete slab.Site preparationThe use of Jabcore Classic in this application means that no hardcore is required. The excavated sub-baseshould be blinded with 50mm compacted reject sand, to receive either the Jabcore Classic or the DPM.JabcoreJabcore Classic is placed on the blinded surface or the DPM, either in a single or double layer, with closely-buttedjoints. If a double layer is used, then through-joints must be avoided. If the concrete slab is to be poured directlyonto the Jabcore Classic, the joints should be covered with 75mm-wide adhesive tape to prevent cold bridging asdetailed in BRE Report 262.Vertical upstands of Jabcore Classic should be used around the perimeter to prevent cold bridging.ReinforcementA type A98 steel-mesh reinforcement to BS 4483 (or other suitable reinforcement) should be incorporated inthe concrete slab. If reinforcement spacing-blocks are used, they should spread the reinforcement and workingloads sufficiently to prevent penetration of, or damage to, the Jabcore Classic or the DPM.Concrete slabThe concrete slab is laid to the required thickness and either tamped or powerfloated to provide the requiredfinish. During these operations, the surface of the Jabcore Classic or the DPM should be protected from impactdamage or excessive trafficking by the use of spreader boards.Floors | Walls | Roofs Jablite Jabcore Technical Information 6
