These include the MoonMoth, Actias maenas and the Atlas Moth, Archaeoattacus staudingeri which aregiants among the insects. Other large interesting moths recorded were Eupterotenaessigi, Eupterote asclepiades, Ambulyx pryeri and Antheraea jana.Actias maenas is one of the two spectacular Moon Moth species found in Borneo.Although it is widely distributed in South-east Asia, it is infrequently encountered andhas been recorded only from the lowland forest (Holloway 1987). It is, however,known to be fairly common at Kawag Base Camp (Saiful Majid, pers. comm.).9
