This research will explore Robert Webber's assertion that "for worshipto be biblical and Christian, the story ofGod's redemption and salvation must be itscontent. Otherwise it ceases to be Christian worship. For it is the content ofworship--theGospel--that makes worship uniquely and distinctly Christian."] The conclusionsconcerning content will in turn provide a basis for suggesting the elements that will beuseful in enabling the body of Christ to worship authentically when gathered.Worship as Re-enactmentDavid Peterson declares that "the worship of God's people in the Bible isdistinctive in that it is regularly presented as the worship offered by those who have beenredeemed.,,2 The importance ofthe exodus event to developing a strong biblical basis forSunday morning worship cannot be overstated.
